Eight Straight Preseason Wins
"Boss, I don't have a father anymore..."
As soon as Danny said those words, he burst into tears.
On a rainy night like this, inside this villa, a man was sobbing uncontrollably.
All the pent-up emotions he'd been carrying for the past half month poured out.
Ever since his father had been shot and killed, Danny hadn't said a word.
From the police coming by to ask questions, to the neighbors helping arrange his father's funeral, to returning to the villa after the funeral, Danny hadn't said a word.
Even when he went to the supermarket to buy some necessities, he'd just picked up what he needed, paid, and left without saying a single word.
Today, those were the first words he'd spoken in half a month.
Wang Yi didn't offer Danny much in the way of comfort.
More than anything, he simply stayed by his side.
He knew that with someone like Danny, it wouldn't matter how he tried to talk him through it or comfort him.
Danny could only work through it in his own time, or let time slowly ease the pain in his heart.
As his boss, all Wang Yi could do was be there for him.
He didn't want Danny to face the pain of losing his father all alone.
And so Wang Yi sat with Danny on the bedroom floor for more than two hours.
During that time, he called Nicole and asked her to bring over two bottles of red wine.
He and Danny each took a bottle and drank straight from it, just as if they were drinking beer.
When they'd finished, the two of them continued sitting silently on the floor.
They stayed there until well past midnight.
Perhaps thanks to the alcohol, Danny finally drifted off.
