Smith naturally knew what Wang Yi had said in his interview.

He was thrilled. He'd been trying to ride Wang Yi's coattails for a while, so he'd kept using all sorts of comments to provoke him.

But Wang Yi had continued to ignore him, which had left Smith a little frustrated.
