Background

Tsunade is the granddaughter of the First Hokage and a member of the Senju Clan. She became the Third Hokage's disciple alongside Jiraiya and Orochimaru, though their later paths left their teacher questioning the legacy of his three students 25.

She married Ryuu Uchiha and gave birth to Uchiha Qing Xuan. Her marriage into the Uchiha made her position politically sensitive: Fugaku refers to her as “Uchiha Tsunade,” while Tsunade herself considers remaining in Konoha liable to create further conflict 24 25. Ryuu died six years before Qing Xuan reached Konoha, and Tsunade was largely absent during their son's early life in the Land of Wind 2 32.

Tsunade is forceful, irreverent, and difficult to restrain. Return to Konoha

Tsunade returns to the Uchiha Compound to reclaim Qing Xuan, initially mistaking Itachi for her son and dragging him toward the exit. The incident exposes her identity as “Uchiha Tsunade” and renews her conflict with Fugaku 24.

She then meets the Third Hokage, learns that he has accepted Qing Xuan as a disciple, and immediately suspects that he intends to draw her son into Konoha's political struggle 25. Despite her frustration with Qing Xuan's behavior and distance from her, she remains proud when the Hokage identifies him as a possible future Hokage 27 32.

Protection of Qing Xuan

After an attack connected to Liu Yun's subordinates leaves Danzo maimed, Tsunade attempts to kill Danzo in retaliation. Qing Xuan stops her, but she immediately resolves to remove him from Konoha because she considers the village unsafe 34.

Qing Xuan refuses to leave at that time. Tsunade later remains through the upcoming Chunin Exams, living with him in her former home and planning to depart afterward 37.

Journey to Sunagakure

Tsunade eventually drugs Qing Xuan and removes him from Konoha despite the Third Hokage's wishes. Accompanied by Ling and Bai, she takes him toward Sunagakure to collect a debt from the Fourth Kazekage 46.

In Sunagakure, she confronts the Fourth Kazekage, Chiyo, and Ebizo. She recounts Ryuu's encounter with a red-haired puppet user and asserts that the Third Kazekage had been turned into a Human Puppet, provoking Chiyo while refusing to be intimidated on foreign soil 48 49.
