The plane flew across the sea toward the distant horizon.

Duanmu Huai leaned back in his seat, gazing at the scenery outside the window before stretching lazily.

"It's really boring... We actually have to travel this far this time... Forget it, it's all the same. Mary, tell me what the situation is over there."

"Ah, yes!"

Hearing Duanmu Huai's question, Mary nodded and took out a document, opening it.

"This is an invitation from the Far East Special Countermeasures Bureau. They're currently investigating and eliminating monsters called Ghouls within their country. The letter says that the Inquisition performed outstandingly in the battle against vampires and werewolves in Western Europe, so they hope to receive our assistance."

"The Ghouls they mentioned—are they the same kind we encountered?"

Duanmu Huai and Mary had encountered Ghouls several times on the American continent and in Fog City. They were basically skin-and-bones creatures that looked like walking human spiders. They were certainly strange, but they weren't much of a threat.

According to the investigation report, the Ghouls encountered in the Far East were clearly completely different from the ones Duanmu Huai and Mary had encountered. The report stated that Far Eastern Ghouls were almost indistinguishable from humans in their daily lives. There was nothing suspicious about them, and they weren't sensitive to sunlight or ultraviolet rays like vampires.
