Lin Zhaozai had originally been a powerful figure of the unorthodox path in the Spirit Ruins World.
Tens of thousands of years ago, the Spirit Ruins World withered and fell from the Universe Tree. Like the Primordial Beginning World, it had been plagued by large numbers of Extraterrestrial Beings, Forbidden Lands, and Evil Spirits descending upon it. Lin Zhaozai had colluded with Outer Realm Demons, and was captured by righteous cultivators of the Spirit Ruins World and suppressed within the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda.
He had once consumed a Longevity Pill refined by demons of the Longevity Clan, gaining a longer lifespan. Yet after tens of thousands of years, he still reached the end of his life and perished.
However, because he cultivated the White Bone Path, he possessed the divine ability to regrow flesh from bones. By drawing upon the origin power of the many evil cultivators and demons within the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, he gave birth to an entirely new soul that inherited everything from his previous life.
Later, Shen Mo, Hong Gu, and the others explored the "Ancient Immortal-Demon Battlefield," entered the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, and awakened Lin Zhaozai, thus forming karma with him.
