Background / History

The River-Facing Sect was a major cultivation sect in Blue Province, Red Flame Kingdom. It maintained its mountain gate in the Linjiang Mountain Range and was regarded as Blue Province’s premier cultivation sect. Its early system accepted large numbers of outer disciples, including children of sect members, cultivation-family descendants, rogue cultivators’ disciples, and talented youths from the secular world. 1 561

The sect followed a survival-of-the-fittest model. Outer disciples received little direct investment, were barred from major facilities such as the Immortal Arts Pavilion and Spirit Energy Pool, and generally had to earn cultivation resources through labor or personal effort. Reaching the Qi Gathering Realm was the threshold for Inner Sect admission, official registration, an identity token, access to sect facilities, regular stipends, and elder instruction. 4 64 398

Its influence extended across four continents and hundreds of cities, supported by scattered industries and a large teleportation network. The sect controlled the Mountain and River Realm, one of the spatial ruins held by only three of the Five Great Immortal Sects, and could open it to outside sects in exchange for mineral resources. 84

During the Heavenly Demon crisis, the sect prepared multiple potential retreats, including the Myriad Dipper Archipelago. It funded a long-range teleportation formation in the Mingsha Kingdom capital, dispatched Spirit Sea Realm experts to eliminate evil Priest cultivators, and planned to admit qualified archipelago cultivators into its Inner Sect. 439 440

A major disaster later trapped much of the sect’s strength in the Mountain and River Realm and severely disrupted its income, recruitment, and supply lines. Shen Mo’s return with Jade Pool Realm resources and his Origin Core breakthrough stabilized the Chong'a Mountain branch, while his subsequent rescue of the trapped members averted a larger collapse. 547 560

Major Developments

Fourth Main Peak

The sect established Azure Cloud Peak as its fourth main peak and appointed Shen Mo as Peak Master. The peak became a center for integrating and training disciples of the Blood-Baleful Sect, including specialized Spirit Pools and a cultivation system adapted to the Blood-Baleful lineage. 453 479

Blood-Baleful Sect Integration

The River-Facing Sect approved the establishment of the body-cultivation-focused Blood-Baleful Sect as part of its longer-term contingency planning. Rather than grant its disciples special privileges, Shen Mo enforced River-Facing Sect rules equally, aiming to build belonging through shared training, missions, and battlefield experience. 425 454

Crisis and Relocation

Following the loss of Blue Province territory and the sect’s relocation to Chong'a Mountain in Yu Province, recruitment channels were cut off and finances deteriorated. The sect’s leaders faced reduced income, missing members, and an urgent need to rebuild industries and replenish disciples. 560 561

Reorganization into the Chiyan Sect

After Shen Mo’s ascent and the consolidation of multiple cultivation forces into Qingyun Cave Heaven, the Linjiang/River-Facing Sect’s leadership proposed dissolving the separate organizations and forming the Chiyan Sect. The new sect inherited the resources, scriptures, secret realms, and core authority of the former River-Facing Sect. 699

The Chiyan Sect adopted a Nine Peaks and One Lake structure, created Preaching and Lecture Halls, reformed elder ranks, and integrated qualified Sea Clan members as disciples. Former River-Facing Sect cultivators retained core influence in the new organization. 700 701
