The next morning, Chiyo headed alone toward Konoha Orphanage.
A gentle breeze brushed past, carrying a faint chill.
From afar, the outline of Konoha Orphanage gradually came into view.
Unlike the rundown little building in his memories, the orphanage had now been renovated. Its exterior walls were painted a warm beige, its windows gleamed spotless, and several small trees had been planted in the yard, making the place seem full of life.
The children's laughter drifted out from within the courtyard, crisp and pleasant.
Just as he reached the gate, an older woman came forward to greet him.
She wore a plain gray kimono, her hair neatly tied behind her head, and a kind smile rested on her face.
"Sir, may I ask who you are...?"
The woman asked respectfully, studying Chiyo as though she found him somewhat familiar.
"I'm Chiyo Uchiha. I'm here to see your director, Yakushi Nonō."
The woman's eyes immediately flashed with surprise.
The Uchiha Clan Head actually knew their newly appointed director?
Thinking of the Uchiha Clan's previous support for the orphanage, the money and supplies they had sent, she immediately understood.
She promptly lowered her head even more respectfully.
"Please wait a moment. I'll notify the director right away."
"No need!"
Chiyo waved a hand.
"Just take me to her."
The woman understood and stepped aside to clear the way.
"Please follow me."
Chiyo followed the woman into the orphanage and passed through a newly painted corridor.
A faint scent of paint still lingered in the air, mingling with the children's laughter and creating a warm atmosphere.
The walls on both sides of the corridor were covered with the children's drawings, vibrant with color and full of childish charm.
"The director has been leading the children in making all of these since she arrived."
