Suiko's Change in Personality; I Am Still Me

Suiko walked toward Chiyo.

With every step, her heart beat faster.

She stopped beneath the old pine tree, at Chiyo's side.

The afterglow of the setting sun filtered through the gaps between the Pine Needles, scattering over him like flecks of gold.

His white hair had been dyed a warm gold, while those crimson eyes remained closed, as though he were taking a nap.

"Master."

Chiyo did not open his eyes.

"Mm."

Suiko sat beside him, hugging her knees as she looked toward Izayoi, who was still sitting blankly by the stream.

After a moment of silence.

"Master, what do you think of Izayoi?"

Chiyo opened his eyes, his crimson gaze falling on her.

"Why ask that all of a sudden?"

"I just... wanted to know."

Suiko lowered her head, her fingers unconsciously rubbing the Four Souls Jewel against her chest.

The jewel rested against her skin, giving off a faint warmth.

Chiyo was silent for a while before answering lightly.

"She is a kind Princess."

Suiko's heart suddenly clenched.

She bit her lip and asked again.

"Then, Master... do you like Izayoi?"

Chiyo turned to look at her.

Those crimson eyes were calm as still water, yet Suiko felt as if he had seen straight through her thoughts. Her cheeks instantly burned.

"You have a lot to say today."

Suiko lowered her head, her voice muffled.

"I just..."

"Just what?"

"I just feel that Izayoi treats Master so well, yet Master has never shown any response..."

She paused, her voice growing softer and softer.

"By herself, she cannot do anything. All she can do is make fire, cook, and take care of the children.

"She must feel terrible inside..."
