Suiko is a young miko with long black hair tied by a white ribbon and clear eyes. She first appears in white-and-red armor while leading human warriors against yokai, carrying both a longsword and a bow. Later, she adopts white miko robes with a crimson hakama, giving her a gentler but more composed appearance 553 565 566.

Personality

Suiko is calm and decisive under pressure. Even while outmatched by a Great Demon, she orders her warriors to retreat and chooses to cover them alone. Her sense of duty as a miko centers on protecting civilians, and she is willing to risk or sacrifice herself rather than allow others to be harmed 553 562 565.

Initially reserved about her feelings, Suiko becomes more candid after the Four Souls Jewel amplifies emotions she had suppressed. Though jealousy toward Izayoi frightens her, she confronts it honestly, accepts responsibility for her feelings, and ultimately supports Izayoi's relationship with Chiyo rather than acting on resentment 589 592 595 596.

History

Meeting Chiyo and becoming his disciple

Suiko first encounters Chiyo while commanding human warriors against a yokai attack in the Eastern Country. She forces her troops to retreat while attempting to hold back the enemy alone, but a Great Demon nearly at King Level overwhelms and injures her. Chiyo drives the demon away, heals her through Spiritual Power, and warns her not to push herself so hard. Suiko then asks to learn demon extermination from him, beginning their master-disciple relationship 553.

Kaguya's possession and sacrifice

Kaguya, a powerful yokai remnant soul, possesses Suiko because of her pure Spiritual Power. Suiko agrees to help Kaguya recover only after securing a promise that Chiyo will not be harmed; Kaguya later betrays her and attempts to permanently take her body 561.

Rather than surrender, Suiko reveals that she had prepared a countermeasure from the moment Kaguya entered her. She draws in thousands of yokai, including Kaguya, and sacrifices herself to form the Four Souls Jewel, trapping them within it 562. Chiyo retrieves the jewel and uses the Rinnegan to rewrite reality, restoring Suiko to life. A purified remnant of the jewel's power remains within her, accelerating her growth 563 564.

Defender of Izayoi's city

After witnessing a city destroyed by the Seven-Man Squad, Suiko resolves to save Princess Izayoi and bring justice to the murdered civilians 565. She confronts the seven mercenaries alone, defeats each of them, and seals them into beads rather than killing them outright 567.

Suiko reassures the surviving citizens that they are safe and identifies her intervention as the duty of a miko, not an act deserving worship 568. Her rescue of Izayoi begins a close friendship between the two women.

Purifying the Four Souls Jewel

When Long Gu Jing obtains the Four Souls Jewel and uses it to pursue Emperor Level power, Suiko leaves Chiyo's group alone to destroy it. She believes that allowing the jewel to circulate will cause unacceptable casualties among humans and yokai, even if Chiyo ultimately intends to reclaim it 584.

Suiko fights through two thousand demon soldiers, confronts Long Gu Jing, removes the jewel from his chest, and purifies it. The act nearly kills her; Chiyo arrives in time to stabilize her injuries and bring her back to camp, where she awakens after three days 585 587.

Relationship with Chiyo and Izayoi

Suiko develops feelings for Chiyo while traveling with him and Izayoi. The Four Souls Jewel initially magnifies her jealousy and possessiveness, culminating in a nightmare in which she kills Izayoi. Suiko admits these emotions to Chiyo, who removes the jewel and explains that it amplifies feelings already present within its bearer 589 592.

After Chiyo recreates the jewel free from emotional influence, Suiko recognizes that her love for him is genuine. She confesses under the moonlight, and Chiyo acknowledges his feelings for her 593 594. Though afraid of losing her special place beside him, Suiko chooses to help Izayoi express her love as well. Chiyo accepts Izayoi, and the three formally begin their relationship together 595 596.
