Chiyo followed Hatake Sakumo to a secluded corner. There was no one around, only the rustling of leaves in the breeze.
A scarlet glint flashed through Chiyo's eyes before he looked at Hatake Sakumo.
"Captain Sakumo, I heard that traces of the Uzumaki Clan were discovered in the eastern sea of the Land of Fire. Do you know anything about it?"
Hatake Sakumo frowned slightly, his expression turning grave.
The Uzumaki Clan still held considerable influence in Konoha.
After all, the Senju Clan and the Uzumaki Clan had once been extremely close, and the Uzumaki Clan held special significance for Konoha.
"I haven't received any mission related to this matter."
"The Anbu's recent efforts have been focused on the village's defenses and matters concerning Lord Mito!"
A trace of confusion flashed through Chiyo's eyes.
"Not even the Anbu received a mission? Could Root have made a move?"
Hatake Sakumo pondered for a moment, then nodded.
"That's possible. Root has indeed made some unusual deployments recently, but I don't know the specifics of their mission."
He paused and looked at Chiyo gravely.
"If Root really is involved, I'm afraid this won't be simple."
Chiyo's heart sank.
Root had always acted in secrecy and with ruthless methods. If they had truly set their sights on the Uzumaki Clan, those clan members were likely doomed.
Because Orochimaru was still in Root, and Mitokado Homura was now Root's leader.
Chiyo knew that very well.
He was nothing more than a puppet.
Root was basically filled with Danzo's most loyal followers.
Given Danzo's nature, he would never allow so many Uzumaki clan members to return safely to Konoha.
At worst, they could still contribute to research and experiments.
When the time came, either they would not be found, or they would meet with an accident
