Background
Daoist Zhunti and Daoist Jieyin were the only Innate God-Demons to survive Ancestor Demon's self-destruction in the West. The two had known one another for millions of years and survived the catastrophe through their combined efforts, leaving them responsible for a Western land whose spiritual veins and Innate Spiritual Qi had been nearly annihilated. 1
When Jieyin began comprehending the Method of Becoming a Sage in Dreams, Zhunti recognized the signs of a Supreme Dharma Gate emerging. He raised a heavenly curtain around his elder brother's seclusion site to prevent outside interference. 1
Zhunti later competed for an Innate Gourd Vine at Mount Buzhou. When Primordial Heavenly Venerate objected to a Westerner claiming an Eastern spiritual root, Zhunti answered with the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree and challenged him to seek the Dao Ancestor's judgment. He ultimately obtained the Nine-Nine Soul Scattering Gourd. 4 5
After attending the Purple Cloud Palace, Zhunti passed the Path of Becoming a Sage through Three Corpses to Jieyin. In return, Jieyin later revealed the complete Three Yuan Dao Proving Corpse Slaying Secret Record, explained its two paths to Sagehood, and supplied Zhunti with the Immortal Slaying Gourd and Water Fire Gourd as compatible treasures for his cultivation. 19 23
Zhunti devoted himself to restoring the West. Using Nine Heavens Breathing Soil and Three Light Divine Water, he cleansed Mount Sumeru's demonic and slaughter aura, restored its spiritual veins, received immense Power of Merit, and renamed the mountain the Pure Land of Spiritual Mountain. 22
At the Dao Ancestor's final distribution of positions, Zhunti severed his Second Corpse and was accepted as the final disciple of the Mysterious Gate. He also received the Twelve-Grade Golden Lotus and Eastern Azure Treasure Lotus Banner. 52 53
Establishment of the Western Teachings
When other cultivators established teachings and attained Sagehood through merit, Zhunti initially remained a Quasi-Saint despite possessing a Foundation of the Great Dao. Jieyin reminded him that his own Great Dao lay in the West and gave him the Creation Cauldron. 94
Zhunti then proclaimed the establishment of the Western Teachings, pledging to prosper the barren West and instruct its beings. The Heavenly Dao recognized his teaching and granted him exceptional merit. 94
Rather than relying solely on merit, Zhunti severed his Self Corpse and united all Three Corpses. The Immortal Slaying Gourd, Water Fire Gourd, and Soul Scattering Gourd proved to contain laws of the same Way of Destruction, allowing their true fusion. 94
The three gourds became a half-step Innate Supreme Treasure; Zhunti then merged his Foundation of the Great Dao into it, elevating it into an Innate Supreme Treasure. He became the first figure to prove the viability of attaining Sagehood through the complete Path of Three Corpses. 94 95
Personality
Zhunti is fiercely devoted to the West and treats its restoration as a long-term responsibility rather than a source of immediate gain. Although the merit earned from repairing Mount Sumeru could have propelled him into the Quasi-Saint Mid-Stage, he restrained himself, prioritizing a stable route to Sagehood through three compatible treasures. 22
He is protective of those close to him. He safeguarded Jieyin's early seclusion, later warned him of the danger of fusing Demon God blood, and personally helped suppress Sun Wukong when the situation exceeded Tathagata's control. 1 48 225
Despite his ambition, Zhunti is pragmatic about his limits. After becoming a Sage, he accepted that failing to seize the Dao Lord position of Destruction was simply a matter of fate, valuing his achieved Sagehood over a greater but riskier prize. 95
