Overview
- Shrek Academy is regarded as the continent's foremost Soul Master academy, with a legacy stated to span twenty thousand years. Many elite Soul Masters are said to be its graduates. 57
- Its prestige draws applicants from across the continent. Public Outer Court recruitment occurs once every three years, with at least a thousand eligible applicants and usually no more than about one hundred admissions; some years admit only twenty or thirty. 57
- The Inner Court is highly exclusive, reportedly never exceeding one hundred students. 57
- The academy is widely known for producing the Shrek Seven Devils and for cultivating teams capable of challenging stronger opponents. 205
History
Shrek Academy originated on the original Douluo Continent. Its founders are commemorated by statues at the academy entrance: Flender, Yu Xiaogang, and Liu Erlong, followed by the First Generation Shrek Seven Devils. 557
The academy has a long-standing rivalry with Sun Moon Academy. According to An Ping's account, the conflict dates back at least ten thousand years to the collision of the Sun Moon and Douluo Continents; he further claims that Shrek's involvement in historical conflicts contributed to Sun Moon Academy nearly being destroyed. 75
Although Shrek presents itself as neutral and committed to continental peace, this stance is disputed. Fan Yu describes the academy's goal as ending wars and preserving peace rather than conquest, while An Ping argues that Shrek historically favored the original Douluo Continent and its three kingdoms. 554
Organization
Sea God Pavilion
- The Sea God Pavilion is Shrek Academy's highest-known leadership body. Yun Ming serves as its Pavilion Master. 61
- Yali is identified as the Inner Court's dean and later as a former dean of the Inner Court. 135 450
- The academy has numerous Titled Douluo, including figures such as Cai Yue'er, Yun Ming, Yali, and Zhuo Shi. 128 282
Outer Court and Inner Court
- The Outer Court conducts public recruitment and includes the Martial Soul and Soul Engineer branches. 57 557
- The Inner Court is reserved for exceptional students and has a strictly limited enrollment. 57
- Core Disciples receive substantial support, including free meals and access to resources, but must also complete academy assignments. These tasks can carry danger. 556 571
- Yun Ming offered An Ping and Gu Yuena direct Inner Court admission because of their exceptional talent; both refused. 61
Departments
| Department | Focus |
|---|---|
| Martial Soul Branch | Martial Soul cultivation and combat-oriented training. 557 |
| Soul Engineer Department | Soul Tool research and education; initially has fewer students due to prejudice against Soul Engineers and its research-centered focus. 565 |
Campus
- Shrek City — The academy is situated within Shrek City, a city with a population of five million. Its eastern gate is reserved for academy access. 545
- Shrek Square — A major assembly space used for ceremonies and academy events. 558
- Sea God Lake — A landmark within the academy grounds. 505 558
- Soul Fighting Arena — A dedicated combat venue that reflects Shrek's emphasis on sparring and practical battle experience. 505 559

Educational Methods
Shrek Academy prioritizes practical combat, strict training, teamwork, and peer sparring. Wu Changkong's combat-heavy teaching at Eastsea Academy is explicitly attributed to his Shrek background. 63
- Teamwork — The academy is particularly known for cultivating coordinated teams; this is a defining expectation of the Shrek Seven Devils. 205
- Combat training — The Soul Fighting Arena encourages students to develop through repeated battles. 505
- Battle Armor instruction — Yali describes Shrek's Battle Armor crafting education as the best available. 134
- Martial Soul resources — The academy claims to possess unmatched materials and conditions for Martial Soul cultivation. 134
- Soul Engineer education — The Soul Engineer Department focuses more on research than combat, despite the academy's broader combat-oriented culture. 565
- Standardized instruction — Wu Changkong characterizes Shrek's teaching as standardized. 401
Recruitment
Shrek Academy actively seeks exceptional talent, including students outside its usual admissions process.
- Chen Yi first invited An Ping and Gu Yuena after learning of their talent during the Tianhai Alliance Grand Competition; both declined. 58
- After their refusal, Shrek investigated their backgrounds and escalated the matter to the Sea God Pavilion when it learned they were Leng Yaozhu's disciples. 61
- Yun Ming subsequently offered them direct Inner Court entry, but they again refused. 61
- Yali later promoted Shrek's Battle Armor training, cultivation resources, elite peers, and high energy concentration in another unsuccessful recruitment attempt. 134
- Beibei also attempted to recruit An Ping and Gu Yuena as Core Disciples during their later visit, but they remained uninterested. 557
Relationships

Notable Events
Invitations to An Ping and Gu Yuena

Eastsea Challenge Match
After An Ping and Gu Yuena refused a friendly spar, Wu Changkong proposed a wager: victory over Shrek's cadets would grant them Academic Freedom, while defeat would require them to join Shrek. 64
An Ping and Gu Yuena defeated Shrek's exhibition team decisively through their Martial Soul Fusion and ice-element sorcery. Chen Yi called for surrender, and the Shrek students were left shaken by the loss. 66 67
Sun Moon Academy Challenge
Shrek publicly challenged Sun Moon Academy, leading to a match against An Ping and Gu Yuena. Tang Wulin's group represented Shrek's Outer Court, while Ye Xinglan and Xu Lizhi recognized their previous defeat at An Ping and Gu Yuena's hands. 81 83
Star Luo Empire Competition
Shrek entered the Star Luo Empire's All-Continent Young Soul Master Competition. Cai Yue'er designated the outcome as a test for Tang Wulin's team to become the new Shrek Seven Devils and enter the Inner Court. 188
The team lost the final team battle to Monster Academy, whose age, Soul Power, and Battle Armor advantages proved overwhelming. Cai Yue'er nevertheless judged their character sufficient and recommended them as candidates for the Shrek Seven Devils. 206 208
Miracle City Academic Exchange
Xu Xiaoyan proposed an academic exchange in which Shrek students would need to pass Miracle City Soul Master Academy's entrance examinations. Tang Wulin later revealed that Shrek's actual objective was to investigate Miracle City's cultivation acceleration method. 430 435

Visit by An Ping and Gu Yuena

During the subsequent Sea God's Trial, An Ping and Gu Yuena defeated the Shrek Seven Devils in a single move without releasing their Martial Souls or Soul Rings, an outcome broadcast throughout the Federation. 506
Criticism
An Ping is one of Shrek Academy's most persistent critics. His objections focus on its institutional culture rather than its combat effectiveness.
- He argues that Shrek teaches students to prioritize Shrek's glory and interests above broader Federation identity. 311 312
- He contends that the academy emphasizes strength and actual combat without sufficiently teaching students what kind of people they should become. 311
- He credits Shrek's enduring reputation partly to a self-reinforcing cycle: its association with god-level graduates attracts elite geniuses, whose achievements then reinforce the academy's prestige. 336
- Yun Ming rejects proposed reforms, insisting that Shrek's glory cannot be profaned. 317
Trivia
- Shrek Academy's green uniforms make its students easily recognizable in public settings. 150
- The academy's Soul Engineer Department offers Core Disciples free cafeteria meals and resource reimbursement when their progress meets expectations. 571
- Shrek's entrance statues include the founders and all seven members of the First Generation Shrek Seven Devils. 557
