Background / History

Sun Wangxian was an established member of the Town Martial Division before He An joined. He had served longer than He Ping, managed a group of incoming personnel, and was considered one of the division's strongest clerks due to his Blood Circulation Realm cultivation. 6

During the operation against the Salvation Cult, Sun commanded a team from the Town Martial Division and warned its members against exploiting the mission to attack their own colleagues. His intervention was specifically intended to deter threats against He An. 16 17

Sun later revealed that he had been instructed to look after He An because the Wu Family had taken an interest in him. After discovering that He An had secretly killed Lü Jiang, Sun chose not to expose him; instead, he sought a future favor, hoping He An would eventually help him become a Hundred-Household Officer. 17 22

As He An's strength and standing rose, Sun became one of his most reliable allies within the division. Sun Wangxian is ambitious, pragmatic, and highly conscious of the Town Martial Division's internal politics. He initially protects He An because of orders from the Wu Family, but recognizes He An's potential and deliberately invests in a long-term alliance with him. 17 22

He is also protective of his colleagues and family. He openly threatens Master Li after the latter menaces his wife and son, and repeatedly worries that He An's bold actions will draw retaliation from stronger enemies. 31 42
