Zi Ji is the Hell Demon Dragon King, a fiery-tempered and bewitching Beast King of the Star Dou Great Forest. She is one of Gu Yuena's most capable and loyal subordinates, alongside Bi Ji. Her rank among the Ten Great Beast Kings is stated to be ninth. 55 59

She and Bi Ji are drawn to Su Bai by the instinctive attraction of his Auspicious Beast aura. After Gu Yuena orders them to investigate Su Bai's claimed ability to gain Spirit Rings and Spirit Bones through dual cultivation with female Spirit Beasts, Zi Ji approaches him under Di Tian's guidance. 57 58
