Background

Lu Xiaofeng is recognized as the third of the Four Heroes of the Capital. Unlike the other young heroes, he disregards social status, readily befriends nobles and commoners alike, and has connections throughout the capital and wider Jianghu. His willingness to resolve others’ troubles earned him a reputation for chivalry before his major cases made him broadly famous. 1 5

He sought Zhou Ming’s access to Ministry of Justice files to investigate the re-emergence of the Plum Blossom Thief. In exchange, he permitted Zhou Ming to use his name for the protagonist of Famous Detective Lu Xiaofeng, a detective novel centered on strange events, truth-seeking, and justice. 1

Plum Blossom Thief Case

Lu Xiaofeng initiates the investigation by requesting the Ministry of Justice dossier from Zhou Ming. After traveling to Xingyun Manor, he notices contradictions in the accusations against Li Xunhuan and Lin Shiyin, as well as Lin Xian’er’s conspicuous behavior. 1 3 6

He stages a trap that makes Bai Xiaosheng believe Long Xiaoyun is the target, while actually drawing out Lin Xian’er. The search of her person uncovers specially made Plum Blossom Silver Needles, exposing her attempt to frame Lin Shiyin. 11 12

Lu Xiaofeng later uses a disguise to break Lin Xian’er’s trust in Bai Xiaosheng, prompting her to reveal what she knows. Bai Xiaosheng then recognizes his defeat and confesses his role in the events. Lu Xiaofeng traces leads through Yunjian Temple and Jile Tower, recognizes the relevance of Yue Qing’s mechanisms, and eventually exposes Luo Ma as the true mastermind rather than Boss Qian alone. 30 31 33 35

After Luo Ma’s defeat and apparent suicide, Lu Xiaofeng refuses to accept that Boss Qian’s death was genuine. He follows the clues to Haoran City and identifies the young man he encountered at the city gate as a rejuvenated Boss Qian. 36 37 38

Unbeknownst to Lu Xiaofeng, Zhou Ming secretly controls his actions through a Mark while using Boss Qian and Fourth Brother to deceive him. Zhou Ming arranges Boss Qian’s apparent suicide and revival as part of a plan to make Lu Xiaofeng question his own life and judgment. 39
