"This is really not easy!"
Wei Xiuming, who had just taken a solid hit from a Mind Storm, was lying on the ground. He subtly shifted towards a corner when no one was looking, trying his best not to let the monster rampaging through the base discover he was unharmed—even though he was confident in his own abilities and knew the creature had no habit of finishing off its opponents.
Wei Xiuming had transmigrated to this world over two years ago. It was only today that he had truly gained control of this body. He was truly unlucky.
However, he had to thank the original host here. It was thanks to their consciousness taking the hit that Wei Xiuming had a chance to survive.
He recalled his previous life and found there was nothing worth reminiscing about. He had even only completed his understanding of Naruto through countless fanfictions. He couldn't understand why he, of all people, had received the qualification for transmigration usually reserved for protagonists.
After arriving in this world, Wei Xiuming hadn't gained control of this body. Besides the original host's strong will, their background destined them to be a mere tool. Even with Wei Xiuming possessing them, they couldn't escape the fate of being a tool.
This tool also had a very cool codename—Weapon X.
That's right, this was the world of the X-Men.
Colonel William Stryker, who had been killed by countless transmigrator seniors hundreds of times, was even more imposing and ambitious than depicted in the movies.
Modifying mutants to be used as weapons was just a minor part of the X-Weapon Project. The projects involved were far more numerous than what was apparent, and the original host, this tool, was a product of one such weapon program.
This program involved extracting the genes of powerful mutants for artificial cultivation. During infancy, the Master Illusion would perform mental induction to turn them into qualified weapons. Compared to the bizarre and varied abilities of mutants, the standardized and modular Weapon X market was much larger.
The gene source they selected was the renowned Magneto, Erik Lehnsherr.
This program went through three generations. The first generation entirely followed the path of cloning, successfully cultivating ten individuals.
Piracy was piracy, after all. The abilities of the clones did not reach the strength of the original owner. Although their displayed abilities were still very powerful, they paled in comparison to the formidable Magneto. Due to forced catalysis and overuse of their abilities during missions, the clones aged rapidly. If they were sent on frequent missions, an entire batch would be dead within two years.
Although their condition could be maintained with drugs, the cost was too high—several times more expensive than cultivating Magneto's cells from an embryo to maturity. Thus, the first generation program was abandoned.
The second generation was a patched-up version of the first-generation clone weapons. To extend the lifespan of the clones, the use of catalytic maturation agents was reduced during cultivation, and necessary growth time was added to the embryos, extending their lifespan.
Perhaps the donor was already quite old when Magneto's blood was obtained. The clones still aged faster when using their abilities.
However, compared to the cost investment, this batch of clones played a much greater role.
Unfortunately, the scientists responsible for the cloning program were incredibly foolish and conducted comparative experiments. Some individuals in the second batch of clones were not brainwashed by the Master Illusion and inherited parts of Magneto's personality. Upon reaching a certain level of growth, they rebelled, causing significant losses to the base's personnel and property.
After this incident, all mature clone weapons of this version were eliminated, leaving only one embryo for cultivation. This was the third generation of Weapon X, the body Wei Xiuming now inhabited.
As a variable in a comparative experiment, those crazy scientists came up with a particularly insane idea.
This surviving individual was not a simple clone but a product of genetic engineering. In addition to the original Magneto genes, they also obtained blood samples from Deathbird, fused their genes, and then cultivated them into an embryo.
This individual had the same developmental timeline as a normal human embryo. During the rebellion initiated by the second batch of clones, it was still in cultivation within an Artificial Amniotic Membrane and was not affected by the fighting.
Later, the original host was born as a normal infant, followed by accelerated growth. During this period, the Master Illusion gradually instilled suggestions and provided professional training to make them a qualified killing weapon.
The original host awakened their abilities at the age of sixteen, possessing two abilities due to the fusion of two mutant genes: rapid self-healing and magnetic field control. Like the previous clones, their abilities were weaker than the gene donors, but their lifespan issue was resolved.
After a series of blunders, William Stryker halted this project. The original host became the sole survivor of this project and was given a name by two scientists, who combined their surnames: Clark Kent.
The timing of Wei Xiuming's consciousness entering this body was extremely coincidental. He could have gained control of the body, but it just so happened that the Master Illusion was performing the first mental induction on the original host at that moment. Interfered by the Master Illusion's abilities, he failed to merge with the body.
However, with the original host's consciousness acting as a shield, Wei Xiuming was not controlled and instead became a sort of secondary personality.
In this state, Wei Xiuming could not influence the outside world and could only passively receive information, like watching a movie from a first-person perspective. To avoid losing himself, he constantly replayed his memories until now.
Not long ago, William Stryker, along with several of his Weapon X subordinates, launched a surprise attack and captured Professor X alive. Stryker brought the Professor to this base hidden within a dam and then had his own son, the Master Illusion Jason Stryker, implant illusions into him, indirectly controlling the Professor's mind.
William Stryker did this for no other reason than to fulfill his lifelong goal: to completely eradicate what he considered scum—mutants.
With Professor X and the Cerebro device previously forced from Magneto, they could lock onto all mutants worldwide and then kill them all on a mental level. After that, the world would be "clean."
At a time of life and death, the X-Men and Magneto's faction united and jointly attacked this American military base located within Canada. Among the team, an Eastern Man was particularly conspicuous. From head to toe, he exuded the aura of a protagonist, having ambiguous relationships with several of the good-looking members of the X-Men, truly a winner in life.
During the assault on the dam, he displayed multiple abilities and became a vital force. With curved shots and Mind Storms, he mowed down American soldiers in the base wherever he went, possessing maximum clearing capability.
As one of the defenders, the original host hadn't even had time to use their metal-control ability before taking a solid hit from a Mind Storm. It was then that Wei Xiuming realized how ruthless that fellow countryman was.
His adult soul had struggled for two years and still couldn't overcome the original host's consciousness and the Master Illusion's methods. But under the Mind Storm, he couldn't last one round. Both were completely shattered, and Wei Xiuming gained his freedom.
"That's definitely an Infinite Flow Male Protagonist, absolutely no doubt about it."
Recalling the style of Infinite Flow Male Protagonists from his memories, Wei Xiuming, who was still playing dead on the ground, came to his conclusion.
To be honest, Wei Xiuming greatly admired those Infinite Flow protagonists. Setting aside everything else, their ability to integrate power systems from different worlds was enough to make most people envious.
One must know that the gap between people is greater than the gap between humans and dogs. In some worlds, humans' ancestors are close relatives of monkeys; in some worlds, humans are products of alien bioengineering; in some worlds, humans are formed from the soil of a creator God's decaying corpse; in some worlds, humans are shaped by gods imitating their own image.
Under the influence of different origins, power systems in different worlds can only be wielded by the humans of their respective worlds.
Yet, the Infinite Flow Male Protagonist, from the initial Chinese martial arts of Wing Chun, to later Gun Fu and curved shots, then Daoist magic or magic, and finally Primordial Dao Attainment at the grand finale, cultivated without any obstacles along the way. It was truly enviable.
