Iceberg Lounge, second floor.
This is Penguin Oswald's legitimate nightclub, a front for his operations.
But in reality, it's where his gang members live. The basement houses a casino, the sub-basement a secret meeting room, and below that, the armory.
"I'm in a very bad mood today, Oswald. You'd better tell me everything you know."
Bai Lang sat on the sofa, his gaze icy as he looked at the short, stout Penguin opposite him.
The surrounding lights were dim, but Bai Lang could still see several burly henchmen standing behind the Penguin.
However, he wasn't alone either. Behind him stood five fully armed subordinates recently assigned to him by Director Gordon.
"Uh... this..." Penguin Oswald glanced at the police officers behind Bai Lang, his expression turning grim.
"Detective Bai, I really don't know why 'Catwoman' kidnapped you, let alone where that mercenary named Deathstroke is."
What did he take him, the Penguin, for?
Some rookie detective coming to his Iceberg Lounge to throw his weight around?
And that woman, Catwoman, he'd only asked her to knock the guy out and bring him here, but she ended up getting captured herself.
Useless!
If he'd known, he would have captured her himself and dealt with her first.
Seeing that he wouldn't talk, Bai Lang took out his service pistol from his waist and placed it on the table with a snap.
"How about now?"
Penguin Oswald glanced at the service pistol on the table, then back at Bai Lang.
His face darkened, and a fierce glint flashed deep in his eyes.
"Detective Bai, you're making this very difficult for me. I did have 'Catwoman' help bring you here..."
Seeing that he still wouldn't reveal information about Deathstroke, Bai Lang picked up his pistol and walked towards the Penguin.
"Don't move!" The Penguin's henchmen's faces changed instantly when they saw Bai Lang approaching with the gun, and they moved to draw their weapons from their pockets.
Ryan, behind Bai Lang, also drew his gun immediately. If there was any sign of trouble from the other side, he would shoot to protect Bai Lang.
The Penguin watched helplessly as Bai Lang walked right up to him and placed the handgun in his hand.
"You're trying to frame me?"
The Penguin immediately understood what Bai Lang was planning – to plant the gun on him and frame him!
"Aim it at me."
"Is this better?"
Bai Lang's expression was unreadable as he gestured with his finger towards the police officers behind him.
The dim light cast shadows on his face, obscuring his features, leaving only a dark, deep silhouette visible to the Penguin.
"They've already started recording. Pointing a gun at a police officer will get you at least seven or eight years in Blackgate Prison..."
"Most of Gotham's judges are on my payroll. Whatever I say goes, right?" Penguin Oswald's face grew even darker.
"Yes. Whatever I say goes!" Bai Lang's expression remained impassive, unmoved.
"Aren't you afraid I'll kill all of you?" The Penguin's face turned completely black, his expression contorted as he threatened, "And steal the recording?!"
He was always the one doing the threatening; when had a detective ever dared to threaten him?
Bai Lang was completely unfazed. Among all the criminals in Gotham, the Penguin cared most about his own safety and reputation.
"The recorder is already connected to the internet. The footage is being transmitted to the police department's computers."
"If you kill us six, this footage will be uploaded online for everyone to see. Then your status will change from criminal to terrorist."
"In America, openly killing multiple police officers will brand you as a terrorist. Do you think you'll survive?"
Hearing Bai Lang's words, a flicker of fear flashed in the Penguin's eyes.
What Bai Lang said was indeed true.
Although he had bribed most of the police force, if news of him killing these officers got out.
If it went viral, he would be slapping the American government in the face.
The next day, the FBI and various special forces would flatten his Iceberg Lounge.
This would no longer be a matter of crime, but of terrorism.
"New City. They went to New City."
Seeing that the detective was determined to bring him down, the Penguin finally caved and revealed all the information he had about Deathstroke.
"That man in the metal suit looked like he was burned. There seems to be something at the New City Royal Hotel that can cure him."
Bai Lang nodded, took the gun from the Penguin's hand, and then left the Iceberg Lounge with Ryan and the others.
The Penguin glared fiercely at their retreating backs.
"Boss, should we...?" A subordinate immediately stepped forward, making a slicing motion across his neck with his hand.
This was a gesture asking if Bai Lang should be dealt with.
"No need to touch him; he brought this upon himself. Let's just sit back and watch the show."
Penguin seemed to think of something, and a sinister smile gradually appeared on his face.
Now that he knew where Deathstroke was, Bai Lang prepared to adjust his condition to its best.
He had Ryan take the four police officers to the main bureau first, while he himself went to Gotham Forest.
"I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the plants here have become much denser..."
Bai Lang looked at the lush, thriving trees around him and a thought crossed his mind.
But none of that mattered. The most important thing right now was to improve his strength, then obtain enough Ability Points from Deathstroke to raise his Current Propulsion cultivation to 200,000 Volts.
That way, he could rest easy for a while before starting his next plan.
He brought up the blue panel.
[Name: Bai Lang] [Lifespan: 23/120] [Abilities: Level 1 Firearms Mastery (71%), Level 2 Combat Mastery (5%), Current Propulsion 155,000 Volts / 500,000 Volts (Advanced Ability: Magnetic Field Rotation)] [Ability Points: 4 (Obtained by causing fluctuations that affect the world)] [Can spend 50 Ability Points to draw other abilities or unlock a function]
Without the slightest hesitation, he injected all 4 Ability Points obtained today into Current Propulsion.
All his cells rubbed together at high speed, and the current within his body surged, grew, and intensified!
It was like a giant vortex, driving the cells within his body madly.
The current in his body also rapidly climbed.
[Current Propulsion 155,000 Volts] → [Current Propulsion 163,000 Volts]
Red arcs continuously seeped from his skin, and even Bai Lang's hair stood on end due to the current.
Crackling!
Fine cracking sounds, like popping beans, came from all over Bai Lang's body.
Sensing the incredibly powerful force within him, Bai Lang began to stand in place, practicing martial arts one move at a time.
"Imperial Shocking World Palm!"
"Quack! Sea Tiger Blast Punch!"
Bai Lang's arms tore through the air frantically, creating gust after gust of wind. The strong wind actually blew the dead leaves on the ground away.
He suddenly punched a large locust tree in front of him with all his might.
The locust tree, which would have required at least four people to embrace, trembled violently for a moment before it split directly down the middle.
The broken section even flew dozens of meters away, carrying immense kinetic energy.
This locust tree was at least a hundred years old and its wood was exceptionally hard, yet Bai Lang had shattered it with a single punch.
If this punch had landed on a person, they would have likely been reduced to pulp.
Before he broke through 100,000 Volts, his strength was already at least fifteen tons.
Now, it was probably even more terrifying.
Bai Lang ran and jumped in the open space, several afterimages appearing. The howling wind sounded like ghosts wailing.
"My current speed has reached 3 seconds per 100 meters, my neural reflexes are countless times faster than a cat's, and my strength has reached a terrifying fifty tons."
He clenched his fists, surging power churning within him.
"And I can barely unleash three attacks at 100,000 Volts."
"But these are not the main points. The most important thing is that I am getting closer to the realm of 200,000 Volts, where I can resist bullets."
"Only 37,000 Volts left!"
