Dao Lord Lu Ya watched the Golden Crow Daoist's clone struggle ceaselessly and sneered again and again, continuously casting restrictive seals. This was the beginning of the refinement.
Dao Lord Lu Ya had granted the Golden Crow Daoist his cultivation method; the two shared the same origin, providing a rare opportunity for him to refine this clone.
Perhaps Dao Lord Lu Ya had been too careless, or perhaps he had never expected the Golden Crow Daoist to sense that his clone had been seized.
"Ah! Golden Crow Daoist, I'll make sure you die a miserable death!"
With a miserable cry, Dao Lord Lu Ya burst out from the bottom of the canyon, disheveled and covered in charred black scorch marks. Beside him floated a Three-legged Golden Crow with scarcely any life left. Even the little Golden Crow he had already refined had not escaped the Golden Crow Daoist clone's self-destruction unscathed. After all, that little Golden Crow had also been refined by the Golden Crow Daoist.
Though the little Golden Crow had also self-destructed, Dao Lord Lu Ya still used the Spiritual Sense within it to suppress it. Otherwise, not only would the little Golden Crow vanish into smoke, but he himself would suffer considerable injury as well—his Spiritual Sense was still inside it.
Dao Lord Lu Ya looked at the battered Three-legged Golden Crow and swallowed it whole. The origin contained within was precisely what he sought. Though it could not perfect his Three Corpses divine spirit, it would at least benefit him.
Yet what puzzled him was that this broken little Golden Crow did not turn into origin for him to absorb. Instead, it continuously absorbed his spiritual power and began repairing itself, leaving Dao Lord Lu Ya greatly astonished. Upon the little Golden Crow, he saw traces of the Great Dao's evolution.
An unexpected delight. Could this be his own fortune? This clone, independent of himself, might perhaps bring him an entirely different opportunity.
Dao Lord Lu Ya froze. "Not good!" He hurriedly transmitted his voice to Great Immortal Yang Mei. "Quickly control the Golden Crow Daoist."
Countless thunderclaps exploded.
At this moment, Great Immortal Yang Mei was also alarmed. What was this? How could such an unexpected event occur? This Myriad Stars Grinding Mill was truly beyond his control now.
Though the Myriad Stars Grinding Mill remained locked against the Chaos Green Lotus, it continuously sent down violet lightning bolts—each one World-Ending Divine Lightning.
Seeing that he could not escape, the Golden Crow Daoist hardened his heart and scattered all his origin essence, pouring it into the Myriad Stars Grinding Mill. The Grinding Mill's white millstone emitted a dazzling radiance and began spinning at high speed.
The Golden Crow Daoist discovered that the Myriad Stars Grinding Mill seemed to have gained a spirit. A chaotic aura wrapped around his Primordial Spirit, transforming it into the deity within that white millstone.
This also brought misery upon Long Ming. The black millstone's suction on Long Ming's essence suddenly intensified, and even his Primordial Spirit showed signs of losing control.
Facing the destructive lightning, the Chaos Green Lotus emitted an even murkier gray radiance, with a thread of Green Light mingled within it. Like a dying candle in the wind, it was not only unharmed, but rapidly drew in the violet lightning.
Countless violet lightning serpents danced through the air, dazzling and violent. Every strike brought heaven crumbling and earth splitting; the thunder nearly shattered souls. The souls of many gods and demons trembled. This was the might of Heaven and Earth.
This lightning was no longer mere isolated bolts. It was an ocean of lightning, electricity filling every inch of space. Heaven and earth were drowned in a boundless violet haze, the entire world transformed into a Sea of Lightning.
Lightning surged down like a tidal wave, electric radiance roaring forth. The gods and demons of this world all faced a great enemy. This was a Lightning Tribulation capable of destroying heaven and earth. Gods and demons with slightly weaker bodies were instantly charred black within the violet sea, their flesh split and torn.
"Boom!"
A thick bolt of violet lightning descended from the heavens, over a dozen zhang in diameter. It pierced through heaven and earth and struck a god demon. He struggled, releasing all the essence within his body, but it only bought him a brief moment before he turned into a lump of charred coal.
The Sea of Lightning raged, nearly pressing down upon the ground. Bolt after bolt struck, making the endless mountain range tremble. The mountains throughout this region collapsed, ground into dust by the lightning and reduced to a barren wasteland.
Pangu, at the center of this lightning, was suffering terribly as well. Violet electric radiance continuously engulfed him, shattering his body each time, yet the Nine Revolutions Golden Body Art continuously repaired it. Pangu was overjoyed. His Nine Revolutions Golden Body was slowly breaking through, on the verge of reaching perfection.
Pangu discovered that he could move again. The Myriad Stars Grinding Mill's Shackles upon him had weakened—or perhaps his physical body had grown powerful enough to break free of those Shackles.
Great Immortal Yang Mei gazed at the boundless lightning, bitterness flooding his heart in waves. He even felt like dying. The little world he had managed for countless years was about to be destroyed in a single stroke. This was the lifeblood of all his efforts.
The Nine-Headed Savage Lion suffered even more. He was originally a ghostly body, naturally afraid of lightning, let alone such violent world-ending lightning. He hid deep within the canyon, using the force of Heaven and Earth to resist the thunder. By now, he had been tormented until he could barely breathe, and his unwilling "woo woo" cries echoed through the canyon.
Seeing Pangu standing steadily beneath the Chaos Green Lotus, Great Immortal Yang Mei could not help sighing. "Could it be that the Great Dao cannot be defied? Failing to harm another, only to harm oneself in the end?"
He hurriedly pleaded with Pangu, "Fellow Daoist, hold back that Myriad Stars Grinding Mill while I destroy this Myriad Stars Grand Formation. Otherwise, not only will this world cease to exist, but our world of gods and demons will return to chaos as well. I ask that you lend a hand."
Pangu inwardly groaned as well. His body had only just recovered a little strength; how could he have any spare power to wield his Sky-Opening Axe? Yet Pangu also knew the situation was far from good. The Myriad Stars Grinding Mill was constantly flying toward the outside of this world. If not for the Chaos Green Lotus suppressing it, it might already have broken through this world and poured endless lightning into the chaotic world where the gods and demons lived. This chaotic world differed from primordial chaos; it already possessed the rudiments of Heaven and Earth. Though above and below were not yet clearly defined, they were already distinct.
At this moment, Xuanhuang, with the Exquisite Pagoda above his head, painstakingly moved through the lightning. He said to Pangu, "Fellow Daoist, can you hold on?"
Pangu said, "Barely. I simply cannot move. How did you get in here, Fellow Daoist?"
Xuanhuang said regretfully, "I had been outside all along, studying the mysteries of this world, but I never succeeded, though I did find some clues. In the chaotic world, I sensed an intense unease and an aura capable of destroying heaven and earth, and feared that something might have happened to you, Fellow Daoist."
Pangu said, "Many thanks, Fellow Daoist. Do you have a way to let me move?"
Xuanhuang frowned slightly. "I will try. I cultivate the Dao of non-action, so the might of Heaven and Earth affects me less. I will try using a formation to construct a space that isolates this heavenly might."
Xuanhuang moved slowly, casting boundless restrictive seals with every step and forming one corner of the formation. How could the might of Heaven and Earth be so easily isolated? It represented the will of the Great Dao, the power of the Great Dao's death.
This was a long and agonizing process. Too many people were suffering—whether the gods and demons within the Lightning Tribulation, or those desperately supporting the Myriad Stars Grand Formation. They felt despair, boundless despair.
Xuanhuang panted as he said to Pangu, "Only three breaths of time. I cannot hold it any longer."
Xuanhuang's Essence Blood flowed into the formation like a rushing river, unceasingly pouring forth, while a layer of blood mist erupted from his entire body.
Pangu swiftly unleashed the divine ability of Heaven and Earth Manifestation. The Sky-Opening Axe also grew larger, and a black Axe Shadow appeared in the sky, gleaming brilliantly amid the violet lightning. A dragon swam across it, while nine enormous heads roared—a roar at the Heavenly Dao. Perhaps it was venting the resentment in their hearts, perhaps an accusation, accusing the Heavenly Dao of injustice.
"Open Heaven!" "Split Earth!" "Rend the Sky!"
He swung one axe with every breath. Bright red blood streamed down from the hands gripping the axe. To contend with the might of Heaven and Earth required an immeasurable price, while swinging an axe at the Great Dao demanded even greater boldness.
The first Axe Shadow cleaved into the Myriad Stars Grinding Mill. The Grinding Mill emitted pure starlight to block it. The Axe Shadow dissipated, and so did the Grinding Mill's protective starlight.
Then the second and third Axe Shadows cleaved into the Myriad Stars Grinding Mill. The Grinding Mill jolted, accompanied by a miserable Dragon's Roar.
In that instant of pause, Great Immortal Yang Mei swiftly formed hand seals and forcibly took control of the Myriad Stars Grand Formation. Amid continuous cracking sounds, all three hundred and sixty-five Star Banners shattered. The gods and demons controlling those Star Banners continuously fell from the sky, only to be swallowed by the endless violet sea before they could reach the ground, their souls scattering.
Without the support of the Grand Formation of the Myriad Stars, the Myriad Stars Grinding Mill gradually slowed. From its summit, a Golden Crow phantom and a stream of violet qi flew out and entered the Chaos Green Lotus.
The Chaos Green Lotus silently absorbed the Primordial Violet Qi within this world. This disaster caused the collective fall of a vast number of Chaos God Demons.
Even as the Grand Formation of the Myriad Stars vanished, the force of the Three Sky-Opening Axes had yet to dissipate. Like a shattered mirror, it broke this world apart.
At this moment, the Chaos Green Lotus suddenly expanded. The red flower atop it enveloped the gradually blurring Myriad Stars Grinding Mill, along with the broken Star Banners. Then the boundless violet lightning throughout this world was absorbed by the Chaos Green Lotus. The green lotus continued changing; its lotus leaves and white roots seemed to constantly dissipate. The whole thing formed into a lotus platform, which spun rapidly before rushing out of this shattered world and wrapping the entire world within itself. Then came the boundless chaotic world. The green lotus's form slowly faded away, becoming perfectly round, like the membrane of a world embryo.
Only Pangu and Xuanhuang witnessed this earth-shaking scene. They stood there blankly, recalling all they had seen, their minds utterly bewildered. This green lotus had actually enveloped an entire world. After all, the Chaos Green Lotus was Pangu's accompanying spiritual treasure and bore the mission of opening Heaven. As for Xuanhuang, he was able to see it because of the three green lotuses above his head—three strange green lotuses.
Great Immortal Yang Mei was the first to recover. Laughing at the surviving gods and demons, he said, "Survive a great catastrophe, and blessings are sure to follow! Hahaha!"
Though only three or four gods and demons remained, every one of them was a formidable figure. Of the Four Spirits of Heaven and Earth, only Xuanwu remained.
Yet deep within the canyon, the Nine-Headed Savage Lion had escaped his predicament. As the world shattered, the Chaos Bead broke apart and transformed into all things of Heaven and Earth. Though his body had been broken apart, he had escaped the Chaos Bead's restrictions and seized portions of its severed remains.
He too was a freak beneath the Great Dao, actually capable of taking another's body for his own use. He haphazardly pieced together a body, but still did not dare reveal himself. At present, his strength was likely the weakest of all.
