At the edge of the Solar System in the One-Punch Universe.
A tiny spacecraft traveled faster than light by warping the gravitational field. It was about to cross the Kuiper Belt and enter Pluto's orbit.
Then, like a swordfish racing through the sea only to plunge into thick mud, the spacecraft slowed from faster-than-light travel to a few hundred meters per second.
The sudden change set off every alarm aboard. Explosion and Manya woke in their hibernation pods.
"The ship dropped out of warp without warning. Looks like someone doesn't want us entering the Solar System." Explosion frowned as he tapped the control panel.
Manya brushed back her hair and looked out at the stars. She sensed a powerful presence watching them.
While the two were at a loss, more than a dozen space-jump gates opened nearby, and warships filed out of them.
An alert immediately appeared on Explosion's radar.
[Warning! Unknown spacecraft detected at coordinates... Fifteen vessels in total...]
"What do we do, Explosion? That's an entire fleet!" Manya exclaimed.
Explosion forced himself to calm down. With the ship's warp drive restricted and its Space Jump Engine unusable, they had virtually no chance of escaping.
Their combat armor could keep them alive in space for extended periods, but that did not mean they could withstand a fleet.
Explosion did possess Star-Burst Level combat power. The problem was that fighting in space differed enormously from fighting on a planet.
Take Boros's Dark Matter Pirates. If their ships' warp drives and Space Jump Engines were disabled, the pirates could never defeat an intermediate civilization.
An intermediate civilization typically had the technology to cross planetary systems with generation ships.
So what if an individual was powerful enough to destroy an Earth-like planet? Why would anyone fight him head-on?
They only
