Beyond serving as a bridgehead for Void Beasts and void lifeforms to invade the material world, the Abyssal Ruins held all manner of wondrous properties.

If the entire Star Realm were likened to a river, then the Abyssal Ruins would be its whirlpools. Not only did they connect to certain underground streams, but they could also greatly affect the river's normal flow.

For example, they could dramatically accelerate the flow of water in surrounding regions, even causing the river to change course.

Projected onto the Star Realm, this concerned the operating laws of all Star Realm Fragments.

Some powerful beings could even use the Abyssal Ruins' influence over the Star Realm to disrupt the operation of Star Realm Fragments across an area, or push Star Realm Fragments originally moving along other orbits onto different trajectories, causing them to crash into continent after continent and bring annihilating calamity upon them.

Within the Star Realm, the dividing line between powerful races and ordinary races lay in their control over the power of the Abyssal Ruins.

The more Abyssal Ruins one controlled, the greater one's influence over the Star Realm.

In mortal terms, it was the difference between a first-rate great power and a second-rate nation.

This showed just how much importance the various races attached to every Abyssal Ruins.

Since using the Abyssal Ruins could not only inflict enormous destruction but also disrupt the Star Realm's normal operation, such actions were often explicitly forbidden.

Naturally, the nine supreme races who made the rules were not included in that prohibition.

Within Netherglow Palace, the most exalted figure was naturally Netherglow, one of humanity's exceedingly rare God Emperor-level beings.
