The Protagonist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Might Be the Same Person

Yugi ended his turn after setting a monster face-down.

[Yugi Muto Hand: 6 → 5]

"My turn, draw!"

[Katsuya Jonouchi Hand: 5 → 6]

"Alright! I summon Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight from my hand!"

A dark steel warrior materialized in the projection.

[Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight: ATK 1800]

"Go! Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight, attack your monster!"

The warrior sliced through the face-down card, splitting a pink monster in half. However, it immediately reformed.

[Katsuya Jonouchi: LP 4000 → 3000]

"Huh? Why did my Life Points decrease by a thousand?"

Jonouchi stared dumbfounded as his Life Points suddenly dropped.

Yugi began to explain.

"Jonouchi, the monster you attacked was Marshmallon."

[Marshmallon: DEF 500]

"According to this card's effect..."

"When this face-down card is attacked, after damage calculation, its owner takes 1000 damage."

"I see!"

Jonouchi suddenly understood.

"And Marshmallon cannot be destroyed by battle."

Yugi continued his explanation.

"It can't be destroyed by battle either? This is really troublesome..."

Jonouchi felt a headache coming on.

"Then I'll set another card and end my turn."

He could only set a card and pass.

[Katsuya Jonouchi Hand: 6 → 4]

"My turn, draw!"

[Yugi Muto Hand: 5 → 6]

Yugi placed another card from his hand into the Spell & Trap Zone.

"I activate the Continuous Spell, Marshmallon's Glasses."

A pair of Marshmallon glasses was drawn onto the Iron Knight's head.

"W-What? What is this thing?"

Jonouchi stared blankly at the scene before him.

Yugi explained, "As long as this Marshmallon's Glasses and Marshmallon are face-up on my field, your opponent cannot select monsters other than Marshmallon as an attack target."

"What!? That's totally unfair!"

Given the current environment, it was indeed difficult to break this strategy, especially for Jonouchi, whose deck construction was already poor.

"Next, I summon Silent Swordsman LV3 from my hand in Attack Position."

A small swordsman wielding a large sword appeared.

[Silent Swordsman LV3: ATK 1000]

"Silent Swordsman? I've never heard of that monster, but its Attack is only a thousand. It can't beat Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight, Yugi."

Jonouchi said confidently.

"Yes, I know. That's why I'll set another card and end my turn."

Yugi quickly ended his turn.

[Yugi Muto Hand: 6 → 3]

"My turn, draw!"

[Katsuya Jonouchi Hand: 4 → 5]

Jonouchi glanced at the card he drew.

"Alright! If it's this card..."

He then placed the card into the Spell & Trap Zone.

"I activate the Spell Card, Defense Seal!"

You can target 1 monster your opponent controls in Defense Position. Change that opponent's monster to face-up Attack Position.

[Marshmallon: ATK 300]

"Now I can deal damage to you! I'll summon [Flame Swordsman] from my hand!"

A swordsman holding a large blue greatsword appeared.

[Flame Swordsman: ATK 1800]

[Katsuya Jonouchi Hand: 5 → 3]

"Heh heh, here I come, Yugi! I'll attack [Marshmallon] with [Flame Swordsman]!"

Jonouchi grinned and shouted.

"Too naive, Jonouchi! At this moment, I'll open my Set card, the Trap Card [Gravity Bind]!"

The battle position of all face-up monsters on the field changes.

"Huh!?"

Jonouchi was stunned for a moment.

[Marshmallon: DEF 500]

[Silent Swordsman LV3: DEF 1000]

[Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight: DEF 1600]

[Flame Swordsman: DEF 1600]

"I can't attack? Then I'll end my turn."

Since his attack failed, Jonouchi had no choice but to end his turn.

"My turn, draw!"

[Yugi Muto Hand: 3 → 4]

"During my Standby Phase, the effect of [Silent Swordsman LV3] activates!"

You can activate this effect by sending this card on the field to the Graveyard during your Standby Phase. Special Summon 1 [Silent Swordsman LV5] from your hand or Deck. You cannot activate this effect the turn this card is Normal Summoned, Special Summoned, or flipped face-up.

Yugi selected a card from his Deck and placed it onto the Monster Zone.

The small swordsman immediately transformed into a tall, imposing warrior.

"Whoa! It got bigger! What a cool monster!"

Jonouchi's eyes lit up.

"Next, I summon [Block Soldier] from my hand."

Block Soldier materialized instantly.

[Block Soldier: ATK 1000]

"Here I go, Jonouchi! I'll attack [Flame Swordsman] with [Silent Swordsman LV5]!"

Silent Swordsman leaped high into the air.

"Then I activate the special effect of [Flame Swordsman]!"

You can target 1 monster on the field; this card's ATK is reduced by any amount, and the targeted monster's ATK is increased by that amount. This effect can also be activated during your opponent's turn.

"I'll add the ATK of [Flame Swordsman] to [Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight]."

[Flame Swordsman: ATK 1800 → 0]

[Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight: ATK 1800 → 3600]

Flame Swordsman was then sliced apart.

"Then, when [Flame Swordsman] on the field is destroyed, Special Summon 1 [Flame Swordsman] from your Deck or Graveyard!"

A swordsman wielding a red greatsword appeared on Jonouchi's field.

[Flame Swordsman: ATK 1800]

"Finally, I'll set one card and end my turn."

Yugi placed another card face down.

[Yugi Muto Hand: 4 → 2]

Chapter 3: The Monster with Zero Attack Power

"My turn, draw!"

[Katsuya Jonouchi Hand: 3 → 4]

"Yosh, Yugi! I've drawn a card that can deal with [Marshmallon]!"

Jonouchi became excited as he looked at the card he drew.

"Come on, Jonouchi!"

Yugi wasn't afraid of Marshmallon being destroyed.

"I'm going now, activating the Spell Card Release Restraint from my hand!"

"You can activate this card by tributing 1 Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight on your field. You can Special Summon 1 Gearfried the Swordmaster from your hand or Deck."

Jonouchi picked a card from his Deck and placed it in the Monster Zone. Immediately, the armor on Fuh-Raid the Iron Knight came off, and a bare-chested strongman appeared.

[Gearfried the Swordmaster: ATK 2600]

"Next, I equip the Equip Spell Lightning Blade to Gearfried the Swordmaster. The equipped monster gains 800 ATK."

A short sword crackling with electricity was taken into the Swordmaster's hand.

[Gearfried the Swordmaster: ATK 2600 → 3400]

"And at this moment, I activate the special effect of Gearfried the Swordmaster!"

"When this card is equipped with an Equip Spell Card, you can target 1 monster on your opponent's field. Destroy that monster."

"The monster I'm going to destroy is, of course, that one!"

Jonouchi pointed at Marshmallon, and the Swordmaster thrust his sword into Marshmallon's body, releasing lightning that charred it.

At this, Jonouchi started to chuckle again.

"Heh heh, I'll borrow Marshmallon, which caused me so much trouble."

"Activating the Spell Card Monster Reborn!"

"You can target 1 monster in either player's Graveyard; Special Summon that monster to your field."

[Jonouchi's Hand: 4 → 1]

"Come on, Marshmallon!"

Marshmallon immediately appeared on Jonouchi's field.
