Ambush

"Lightning Release: Earth Running!" The Kumogakure rogue ninja quickly formed hand seals and used Lightning Release Ninjutsu. Lightning raced across the ground in an instant, forcing Hizashi Hyuga to retreat.

The lightning instantly separated Shiyu and the others from Hizashi Hyuga. The Kumogakure ninja then engaged Hizashi once more.

Shiyu and his two companions now faced more than a dozen rogue and wandering ninja, and the pressure was mounting.

"There are so many of them! What do we do?" Kakashi Nao had never faced such an urgent situation before.

"Shiyu, do you have a plan?" Hinata Kurenai asked.

"Yeah, I have one—though it's not perfect!" Shiyu quickly came up with a way to break through.

"Kill them!" More than a dozen rogue ninja charged at the three of them. Shiyu swiftly formed hand seals and unleashed his Compound Ninjutsu once more.

"Compound Ninjutsu: Wind Fire Dragon Bullet Technique!"

The devastating Compound Ninjutsu instantly killed several weaker enemies. The rest grew much more cautious. Shiyu knew they would be extremely careful from then on.

"Water Release: Hidden Mist Technique!" Shiyu used the technique he had copied not long ago.

The mist around them quickly thickened until they couldn't see their own hands in front of their faces.

"We've lost track of the enemy!" someone called out from within the dense fog.

Shiyu had copied the Silent Killing Technique and the Body Flicker Technique, so he could move swiftly and nimbly without making a sound.

The thick fog also let him conceal himself with ease, while his White Rinnegan revealed the enemies' positions with perfect clarity.

Shiyu was like a wolf among sheep. The moment an enemy caught sight of him, he had already struck a vital point with Gentle Fist.

Before long, several ninja had fallen to Shiyu.

The surviving ninja were drenched in sweat, their hearts filled with dread. They feared they would be next to die, and their fighting spirit had all but crumbled.

Shiyu was like the Grim Reaper in the thick fog, swiftly claiming the lives of the unfortunate.

"Where is he!? Where is he hiding!?" A wandering ninja searched in every direction but couldn't see anyone. Shiyu crept up on him again and again, until a Gentle Fist strike pierced his internal organs.

Gentle Fist paired with the dense fog was practically made for Shiyu. It wouldn't work against ninja with particularly sharp awareness, but against fodder like these, he could kill one after another without a problem!

"One more is gone!"

"Damn it!"

"Where the hell is he!?"

The wandering ninja and rogue ninja were beginning to regret this. Shiyu was only a Genin, yet he seemed even more troublesome than the Jonin from the Hyuga Clan.

In the blink of an eye, only three of the ninja who had surrounded Shiyu and his companions remained.

"Only three left," Shiyu thought. An idea struck him, and he used Shadow Clone to make two copies, then used Transformation Technique to make them look like the other two.

The three remaining fodder were soon dealt with as well.

They never even realized before they died that their former companions had killed them.

With the fight on their side over, Shiyu, Kurenai, and Nao went to help Hizashi.

Hizashi specialized in Taijutsu, but his opponent clearly had Lightning Release Ninjutsu. Since Hizashi couldn't get close, he was at a disadvantage.

"Teacher Hizashi! Leave the rest to me!" Shiyu stepped forward without hesitation.

"Hmph! You little brat! Don't get ahead of yourself! I was careless last time." The Kumogakure rogue ninja seemed to notice the corpses of more than a dozen ninja. His expression turned disbelieving.

"What's going on!? You're one lucky bastard! Fifteen wandering ninja couldn't kill you!?" The Kumogakure rogue ninja was astonished. He had figured that even if Shiyu was a powerful Elite Chunin, he would likely be in dire straits by now. But to his surprise, Shiyu had not only survived once more—he had wiped them out.

"You brat! You must be at Jonin level by now, aren't you? A kid from Konoha? How can you be this strong!? What a pain! I didn't expect such a powerful kid!" The Kumogakure ninja furrowed his brow. He had miscalculated, and his chances of winning had fallen further.

"That crest of yours... Does that mean you're from Konoha's Uchiha Clan?" the Kumogakure rogue ninja asked.

"Hmph! See for yourself!" Shiyu immediately began forming hand seals and shouted, "Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

The Kumogakure ninja naturally used the Body Flicker Technique to dodge quickly. Shiyu, however, pressed the attack and continued firing Great Fireballs.

"What a troublesome brat!" The Kumogakure rogue ninja hadn't expected Shiyu to have such incredible stamina and chakra reserves.

At last, when Shiyu stopped, he swiftly formed hand seals again and used Wind Release Ninjutsu.

"Wind Release: Wind Dragon Bullet!"

A fierce gust instantly took the shape of a dragon and surged toward the Kumogakure ninja.

"You little brat!" The Kumogakure rogue ninja was clearly furious. Shiyu wasn't giving him a moment to catch his breath. Normally, a Genin who used a technique as powerful as Great Fireball would have little chakra left, but Shiyu kept unleashing B-rank jutsu without pause and showed no sign of running out.

"What's with this kid!? Even a Jonin should be running low on chakra by now!" The Kumogakure ninja was growing more incredulous and shocked by the moment.

"This kid's the complete opposite of that Jonin. His mid- and long-range attacks are strong, but in close combat, I won't lose to him!" the Kumogakure rogue ninja declared confidently.

Then he used the Body Flicker Technique to appear right beside Shiyu. That was exactly what Shiyu had wanted.

"Lightning Release: Lightning Armor!" To guard against anything unexpected, the Kumogakure ninja also cloaked himself in a shield of lightning.

Shiyu furrowed his brow slightly. This guy is being way too cautious.

Shiyu decided not to engage the Kumogakure rogue ninja just yet. He used Water Release: Hidden Mist Technique once more, and dense fog instantly filled the area.

"Nice work, Shiyu!" Hizashi's Byakugan let him see the enemy's position clearly through the fog, while Shiyu had effectively blocked the enemy's vision.

"Damn it! He's blocked my vision! Now I have no idea where he is!" With no other choice, the Kumogakure rogue ninja pushed his Lightning Armor to full power. It consumed a great deal of chakra, but at least it would keep him safe for a while.

"He can't see us!" Shiyu and Hizashi immediately worked out a plan.

"There!" The Kumogakure rogue ninja suddenly spotted Shiyu in front of him. He was about to attack when Hizashi struck from behind with Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm.

"Foolish!" the Kumogakure rogue ninja sneered.
