Background / History

Formerly known as Medusa, Cai Lin was the queen of the Snake People Clan. Hai Bodong had been sealed by her before Shen Wen's group sought his map to the Green Lotus Earth Core Fire 20.

She married Shen Wen in a simple ceremony and took the name Cai Lin, marking her severance from her former identity as queen. As bride price, Shen Wen gave her the Soaring Serpent Inheritance and Innate Dao Body Origin 51.

Soon afterward, she chose to defend the Snake People Holy City herself against Xie Biyan and the Ten Thousand Scorpions Gate. She refused to interrupt Shen Wen's seclusion, believing she needed to prove herself as his concubine rather than rely on him for a “mere Xie Biyan” 52. Her battle was interrupted by Iron Protector's soul-targeting chains, but she later blocked Iron Protector's escape and personally trapped and killed Xie Shan 54 55 58.

Cai Lin participated in relocating the Snake People to the Monster Beast Mountain Range and negotiated terms with her people alongside Shen Wen 76. She later accompanied him to the Jia Ma Empire's imperial capital, where her status as a Dou Ancestor forced Jia Xingtian to treat their arrival with deference 83.

She became pregnant with Shen Wen's child and developed a notably gentler, maternal side 101 139. Concerned for both Shen Wen's reputation and their child's standing, she ultimately accepted Cao Ying's proposal that she be recognized as Shen Wen's Equal Wife 194.
