"Qui~et~"
Director Dumbledore's voice echoed through the hall, and the scattered chatter gradually died down.
Everyone's gaze turned to Director Dumbledore. Voldemort's did too.
"First, let us thank Mr. Sylvester for bringing us news of Death."
Director Dumbledore gestured, directing everyone's attention to Voldemort.
Voldemort gave a slight bow to those around him. Under their gaze, he felt no discomfort.
"This time, Death made a very clear request: a black dog."
Director Dumbledore pointed at the black dog, and everyone's gaze followed.
"Boom."
The entire Death Hall erupted into chaos as people began talking among themselves.
Voldemort scanned them from behind his mask, straining to make out what they were saying.
Most sounded surprised, wondering why Death would want a black dog. Some also voiced their doubts.
"Qui~et~"
Director Dumbledore had to raise his voice again. Once everyone had quieted down, he said, "Anyone who objects, stand up and speak."
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..."
More than a dozen people stood up and began explaining their views, all at once:
"Death has never asked for a mundane thing. I think this is a mistake."
"I'm not questioning Mr. Sylvester, but a request like this cannot be trusted."
"Emotions and magical materials are what Death needs. We're on the wrong path."
"Think about what the ancient texts say..."
"We shouldn't..."
The objections surged like a tide, but Director Dumbledore looked quite calm.
As he listened to their accents, Voldemort noticed that many of them were foreigners.
It seemed the Unspeakables weren't limited to England.
"I believe Mr. Sylvester."
As soon as those standing had finished speaking, Director Dumbledore immediately made his position clear.
This set off another uproar. Evidently, they weren't convinced by what he had said.
"Quiet, quiet, everyone, listen to me."
This time, Director Dumbledore had to shout "Quiet" several times
