36 Hall Street.

"Lumos."

Voldemort softly chanted the spell, a halo of light rising from his wand.

With a slight flick of the wand tip, the halo detached from it, transforming into specks of light that floated up, mingling with the other specks that had been there for a long time, drifting haphazardly in the air.

At this moment, there were no less than twenty light sources of various sizes already present above the room, all products of Voldemort using Lumos.

Making the illumination spell detach from the wand and float in the air for a period of time was not difficult.

It only required increasing the magic output when casting the spell, or, if one had a very high level of understanding of the spell itself, it could be achieved without wasting magic.

However, Voldemort himself had neither increased his magic output nor possessed a deep understanding of this spell, yet he had still accomplished it.

What he relied on was a newly acquired skill:

Lin Zuo Moment.

It could effectively extend the duration of a spell's existence in the world, and at the same time, allow the spell to exist independently of the wand.

Possessing space-time characteristics, this was Voldemort's definition of it.

"Pop."

One of the light sources extinguished, and Voldemort immediately looked at his pocket watch. Both hands were pointing downwards:

18:30.

"The light, which originally could only exist for about a minute, has been extended for half an hour."

Voldemort murmured, closing the pocket watch. "A thirty-fold increase in duration, within a spatial range of ten meters. I wonder if these space-time characteristics will grow."

He waved his wand, and the light sources in the air seemed to return to their nest, entering the wand. The feeling of effortless control brought a smile to Voldemort's face.

But when he looked down at the iron cages on the ground, his smile gradually disappeared.

The five cages contained a spider, a rat, a white rabbit, a dog, and a cat, respectively. This order corresponded to his emotions towards these animals, from disgust to affection.

The spider, rat, and white rabbit were already dead, victims of Voldemort's Avada Kedavra. In fact, it had been a struggle when the Killing Curse was aimed at the white rabbit.

The dog and cat behind them were still alive and kicking.

It wasn't because Voldemort had shown them mercy, but because he was completely unable to cast the Killing Curse on either of them.

He couldn't even use the Cruciatus Curse on the blue kitten.

Malice, the intent to kill, simply couldn't be mustered. This was the drawback of Lin Zuo Moment.

Voldemort returned to the coffee table behind him and wrote in an open notebook:

While Lin Zuo Moment imbues spells with unique space-time characteristics, the soul also places a wager. Lin Zuo's soul consciousness has taken complete initiative at this moment.

Currently, my soul is a combination of the soul of the transmigrator Lin Zuo and the remnant soul of Voldemort. The ratio of these souls is roughly nine to one.

Without using Lin Zuo Moment, the negative emotions from the Dark Lord's remnant soul help me cast dark magic effectively.

But when Lin Zuo's consciousness takes the initiative, he, coming from a peaceful, law-abiding society, finds it difficult to brew malice for extended periods and infuse it into spells.

Lin Zuo Moment is suitable for spell cultivation and usage, but not for war.

Hypothesis 1:

Lin Zuo Moment was born when the intention turned towards goodness, a stark contrast to the thoughts of Voldemort's remnant soul, which might be the reason for its birth.

Hypothesis 2:

The space-time characteristics might originate from Lin Zuo's identity as a transmigrator, but they do not inherently enhance magic. It's possible Lin Zuo's soul itself has no magical talent, or very little.

Hypothesis 3:

Dark Lord Moment is destined to appear. It's speculated that strengthening Voldemort's soul ratio might be necessary, or perhaps when an opposing thought to Lin Zuo's arises. Currently, a definitive judgment cannot be made.

Hypothesis 4:

Spells with space-time characteristics could potentially be enhanced through Alchemy to create magical items that counter curses. This should be prioritized to avoid exposure at Hogwarts.

Hypothesis 5:

Attempt to utilize space-time characteristics in combat, and try to create a combat style called Lin Zuo Moment, in preparation for unexpected...

"Ding-dong! Ding-dong!"

The doorbell suddenly rang. Voldemort stopped writing, tore off this page and the following few pages, burned them with fire, and threw them into the waste bin.

"Click."

He opened the door to find Pochis standing outside. Behind him, two bodyguards were pushing two beds, on which lay two unconscious humans.

"Come in."

He moved aside, and the bodyguards pushed the two beds into the living room before retreating. Pochis stayed behind.

"This person is merely an experimental participant and is innocent; he cannot be killed," Pochis said, pointing to one of them. He then pointed to the other, "This one is extremely wicked and can be killed. He's also an undocumented individual, and we've already agreed on a price."

Voldemort nodded and asked, "Is the dosage of the anesthetic sufficient?"

"Full anesthesia, dosage is sufficient," Pochis said. He hesitated, perhaps wanting to persuade him of something, but ultimately chose to say nothing.

"Wait for me outside for half an hour, it'll be over soon."

After dismissing Pochis, Voldemort immediately began to use magic on the two individuals.

"Soul Departure."

A green light fell upon the two one after another. He could completely control them, without any issues.

"Cruciatus Curse."

This was the first time he had used this spell on a human. The first test subject immediately let out a painful roar. It seemed the anesthetic couldn't effectively stop this magic.

At the same time, Voldemort could deeply feel the person's pain. This instantly stirred a sense of guilt within him. The magic stopped as a result, but its effects did not cease.

In agony, thirty seconds passed. The first test subject finally calmed down, though their body still twitched occasionally. Voldemort's heart was already filled with guilt.

This made him frown. He calmed himself and began to try using the Cruciatus Curse on the more heinous test subject...

"Pfft."

The Purple Sandalwood Wand seemed to let out a fart. After the green light shot out, it turned into smoke, drifting in the air for a moment before slowly disappearing.

"As expected, when Lin Zuo's consciousness is the main body, dark magic is basically out of my reach."

Voldemort muttered softly. He tried again, unwilling to give up, but this only made the wand let out another fart.

"Let's try the Killing Curse."

He waved the Purple Sandalwood Wand again. However, this time, the wand didn't even fart.

It wasn't that the wand refused the magic, but that Voldemort himself couldn't muster any killing intent.

Killing someone truly wasn't a simple matter.

His gaze fell upon the constantly glowing "[Lin Zuo Moment]" in the lower-left corner of his vision. Voldemort now had a relatively clear understanding of this skill.

"I just don't know if the method to exit this skill is also controlled by desire."

After guessing, he didn't try it immediately. Instead, he called Pochis back, telling him to take the two away—the experiment was over, and the test subjects were no longer useful.

Looking at the two humans who appeared to have suffered no torment and were still breathing, Pochis's worried heart finally settled.

As expected, all rich people have their own peculiar habits... With this thought, Pochis hurriedly left 36 Hall Street.
