"Are you really not going to tell me what you saw?"
Outside the ward, after Dumbledore had shaken his head and refused to help Melina, he asked Voldemort.
"It's a secret, Albus. Can you share every secret with me?" Voldemort countered.
Dumbledore shrugged in reply, then couldn't help adding, "I'm only worried you'll lose your way in the unknown, Voldemort. But you know, I'm sufficiently well-read, even in my old age, don't you?"
Voldemort was silent for a moment, then said seriously, "If I need to, I'll come to you for advice."
Dumbledore nodded and let the matter drop.
A while later, Mrs. Longbottom's voice came from inside the room. It seemed Frank had gotten a hold of himself.
But when Voldemort entered the room, he saw that Frank still didn't dare look at him.
He chose to ignore it.
"Alice, Dark Lord, are you still willing to treat her?" Mrs. Longbottom asked hesitantly.
Clearly, she had noticed Voldemort's earlier state.
Voldemort didn't answer Mrs. Longbottom right away. He turned to look at Neville and saw the little boy staring at him with red-rimmed eyes.
"Of course. For Neville's sake, I have no reason to refuse," Voldemort said with a smile.
"Will she also..." Frank suddenly spoke, his eyes flickering as he avoided Voldemort's gaze. "Will she also see what I saw?"
"I can't be sure," Voldemort said, shaking his head. "Albus can confirm that this method of treatment isn't entirely under my control."
At once, everyone turned to look at Dumbledore.
"Yes. It's a profound power. I don't think even I could control it, were I to possess it," Dumbledore confirmed.
His answer made Frank hesitate. Clearly, he didn't want his wife to go through what he had.
