Background and History
Tang San possesses two lives and spiritual power beyond that of ordinary Soul Masters, enabling him to absorb Soul Rings beyond normal age limits. His Blue Silver Grass is identified as direct-line Blue Silver Emperor blood rather than an ordinary plant Martial Soul, making it compatible with his Clear Sky Hammer as Twin Martial Souls 61.
He initially revered Yu Xiaogang as a master whose theories had supposedly developed his Blue Silver Grass. After Dai Mubai exposes that much of Yu Xiaogang's teaching resembles a basic cultivation manual, Tang San strikes Yu Xiaogang and begins maintaining the relationship only for appearances and potential utility 62 63 89.
Tang San later learns that Tang Hao survived Lan Minghua's earlier attack, reunites with him, and discovers that Ah Yin—the Blue Silver Emperor—is his mother 59 90 116.
Personality
Tang San is fiercely protective of Xiao Wu. Lan Minghua's defeat of her provokes him into revealing the Clear Sky Hammer, and he repeatedly seeks or pressures others to help rescue or protect her 11 34 35.
He is proud of his talent, Twin Martial Souls, and Tang Sect methods. This confidence often becomes overconfidence: he underestimates Lan Minghua during Shrek's entrance test and Feng Xiaotian during the exchange tournament, where he initially refuses to use his Clear Sky Hammer 12 102.
Tang San is highly conscious of humiliation and public perception. When mocked, he responds with lethal intent, including attempting to fire the Zhuge Divine Crossbow at onlookers and plotting revenge against those who disgrace him 29 76 105. He is also pragmatic and manipulative when pursuing power, accepting a marriage alliance for sect resources and poisoning Dai Mubai to secure his cooperation 59 77 89.
