This port of Alexandria was already three times its size when Kirk had left. It had expanded on a magnificent scale, with over a thousand berths where merchant ships from all over the world docked, bringing thousands of kinds of goods to Egypt to trade.
People bustled to and fro. The place was extraordinarily prosperous.
Kirk was thrilled. He put an arm around Queen Cleopatra's slender waist and said with satisfaction, "Looks like the you who stayed behind in this world did a pretty good job."
Cleopatra's pretty face flushed, and her eyes glimmered. "What do you mean, 'the you who stayed behind'? That was me. I've worked so hard. What reward are you giving me tonight?"
Kirk burst out laughing. "Now that we're in Alexandria, of course you're the lady of the manor!"
He strode into Alexandria's Royal Palace.
Along the way, countless Egyptians saw Kirk entering the city with the familiar Queen Cleopatra and cheered with delight. Many people knelt around them, shouting, "Long live the Pharaoh!"
Kirk waved to them.
When they finally entered the palace, they found three familiar figures waiting respectfully inside.
