"Your meditation is very promising. I believe you'll definitely be able to use the Force." Master Yoda said patiently. He had never expected to teach everything he knew to a student on such a short crash course.
A bottle of soda stood in front of Kirk. He needed to use the Force to push it over.
"Focus. Concentrate your mind on your left hand, just as you did during meditation yesterday. Very good, very good." Master Yoda guided him attentively.
Perhaps Kirk had just a tiny bit of talent. As he focused his meditation, he actually managed to summon a faint trace of the Force and push the bottle over.
Master Yoda nodded in satisfaction. At least his effort hadn't been wasted.
"All right. I've taught you how to use a lightsaber and how to wield the Force. The Council sent word yesterday that Senator Amidala's ship will be arriving soon. I need to go up and discuss the proposal with Master Yoda. You'll have to handle the next ten days of training on your own." Master Yoda said.
Kirk nodded and said gratefully, "Master, you've taught me knowledge that will benefit me for the rest of my life."
He wasn't just flattering his teacher. These twenty days of training had given Kirk a complete opportunity to practice and reflect on the martial skills he had picked up here and there, refining them into something cohesive. More importantly, they had given him the chance to delve into his own heart and meditate. That would be invaluable to his development.
Jedi Knights might appear strongest when wielding their lightsabers and the Force, but the true source of their strength lay within.
