Kirk shook his head with a world-weary air. "I left the life of a gunslinger behind years ago."
He had honed his marksmanship in The Walking Dead. As the worlds grew more and more difficult, firearms improved only slowly, and their power steadily fell behind. They were especially ineffective in close combat, so Kirk had eventually given them up. Honestly, if he'd had any choice this time, he wouldn't even have touched a gun.
Even so, with the team's ample resources, Kirk had still raised his [Basic Small Arms Mastery] to level 18, giving him a remarkable boost with handguns.
The three crows had dropped a crystal, a grenade, and ten bullets, just like in the game.
Kirk collected them one by one.
This trial was difficult, and all his weapons and items had been sealed away. Kirk had to make every resource count.
Fortunately, he'd played Resident Evil 4 countless times, and cleared it on the highest difficulty more times than he could remember. Shooting crows and picking up their bullets was practically instinctive by now. He could do it with his eyes closed.
Hermione couldn't help admiring him.

Hermione stole a glance around. This was a village in the Central Mountain Range of Iberia, backward and impoverished. The isolated house stood all by itself out in the wilderness. The wind swept past, and everything looked so decrepit and worn. Maybe it was just her imagination, but she thought she could smell something rotten.
"Is anyone there?" Hermione tried to knock, but Kirk stopped her.
