I got a Groudon right from the start, and Su Yi began putting his art of persuasion to work.

Su Yi: "Groudon, don't you want to fly? Don't you want to teach Kyogre and Rayquaza a good lesson the next time you run into them? How about we make a deal..."

The system had given Su Yi a Groudon as his guardian right from the start. But according to its rules, Groudon would only step in when Su Yi was in mortal danger. To make his own progress go more smoothly, Su Yi switched on his powers of persuasion and tried to talk Groudon around!

High in the sky, Groudon floated with Precipice Blade in hand. Kyogre and Rayquaza lay sprawled in the distance.

He'd gone to sleep, and the whole world had turned upside down!

Well, a few minutes later, Su Yi accepted the fact.

He had no idea how it had happened. He'd stayed up late and finally beaten a Pokémon game level he'd been stuck on for ages. Then he'd gone to sleep and woken up in a different world.

At any rate, his body was still his, and his soul was still his. It wasn't him who had changed—it was the world...

Memories belonging to this world began appearing in his mind, all of them fitting seamlessly into place.

More than half the people in this world were Pokémon Trainers.

Su Yi tentatively spoke to himself in his mind.

Great. The protagonist's standard-issue system had arrived.

Next came the system's starter gift pack!

[Beep! Host, would you like to open the system gift pack?]

Open it! What was he waiting for?

Suddenly, Su Yi saw a virtual screen that only he could see.

[Beep! To help the Host grow smoothly, the system gift pack contains one free spin on the Big Wheel. Please spin to choose your guardian and keep yourself safe!]

As expected, this Big Wheel must've been the cheat the system had prepared for him.

A free spin, and a guardian?

Su Yi's breathing suddenly grew ragged.

Oh my god, what was he looking at?

On the Big Wheel were Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Celebi, the bugged cheat Pokémon Hoopa, Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza!

"Great system, I'll take any of them. Just don't give me Groudon, the one that can't fly. Start the draw!"

Among all those Legendary Pokémon, Groudon was the only one that couldn't fly. How cruel!

He'd take any one of them—just not Groudon!

With a thought, Su Yi started the draw!

The pointer began to spin.

In Su Yi's eyes, the pointer's rotation slowed.

He kept his gaze fixed on the sections for Rayquaza, Dialga, and the bugged Legendary Pokémon Hoopa.

Those were his three favorites. Any one of them would do!

Su Yi nearly fell apart on the spot.

There were so many Legendary guardians. He'd take any of them—just not Groudon!

"System, I want to return it!"

[Beep! Host, would you like to give up Groudon as your guardian? Once you give it up, you will not get a second chance.]

"Don't!"

Su Yi jumped in fright.

This system was a real rip-off. It had said he could draw a guardian, but out of all those Legendary Pokémon, it had gone and given him Groudon.

What a scam!

But still, a Legendary Pokémon was a Legendary Pokémon!

If he could get Groudon to obey him, then from here on out, wherever Su Yi looked, Precipice Blade could strike. Wouldn't that be amazing?

After all, Groudon was a Legendary Pokémon, and a really powerful one at that. It just couldn't fly!

The world was full of dangers. Having a Legendary Pokémon as a guardian was naturally the best thing he could ask for.

After choosing to accept, Su Yi's consciousness suddenly felt a wave of scorching heat.

An overwhelming pressure, like a crashing tide, surged toward him.

Su Yi's consciousness arrived in a special space.

Besides him, a towering, enormous, fiery-red figure stood in the space.

The thing as vast as a towering mountain was Groudon.

"Grrr..."

Groudon opened its eyes and sensed Su Yi's presence.

It curiously felt out the space around it. Just moments earlier, an irresistible force had dragged it in.

That force had been so powerful that even Groudon couldn't fight it. It had been pulled right inside.

The system appeared again. In front of Su Yi lay a Master Ball!

It was specially made by the system, and could directly draw Groudon inside.

Su Yi took the Master Ball, tapped Groudon with it, and drew it inside.

Because of the system's power, Groudon didn't resist, and it had no desire to resist either.
