Split Up

After the pre-battle meeting ended, the teams left Konoha in batches, having agreed on a time to strike together.

Teams with nearby targets could travel a little slower. Teams with distant targets—such as those at the border—had to travel even faster.

The two outposts assigned to Minato's team were practically at the border of the Land of Fire. The Yellow Flash's mobility would effectively intercept any fleeing enemies.

As for whether the Genin in Minato's team could keep up with Minato's speed, Hatake Sakumo had never considered that a problem.

There were Chunin in the other teams too—how could they possibly keep up? Besides, were the Genin in Minato's team ordinary Genin?

Sakumo knew that Kakashi and Might Guy had been training intensely these past few days, fighting with great vigor.

In short, although Minato traveled so fast that Kakashi, Guy, and Mai felt as though he was driving them onward, they still barely managed to keep up with Master Minato's speed.

After two days of travel, Minato's team finally arrived near their mission site. There were still more than ten hours before the agreed time of attack, giving the four of them plenty of time to rest and adjust their condition.

Master Minato took fresh water and rations from a Storage Scroll and handed them out to the three boys, then spread the mission map before them.

"The two intelligence stations assigned to us are located in these two towns. Both are roughly a hundred kilometers from our current position, and we can reach them in three hours.

"So now we need to discuss our team's battle plan. Should we work together to take down the two outposts one after the other, or split up and take them both simultaneously?"

"Discuss? Does Minato-sensei not know what to do himself?"
