"The target area currently contains no entity that meets the conditions for using 'Soul Descent.' Ability activation failed."
As "Soul Descent" activated, Wang Dong, who was deeply linked to the shipborne Kindling, received a somewhat unexpected notification.
"Huh?"
Wang Dong furrowed his brow and queried the relevant information through the shipborne Kindling.
The effective range of "Soul Descent" was easy to understand: it was the space within a certain distance of the Sky Peng Horizontal as its center.
That distance was short, about ten kilometers—the same as the automatic detection range for shipborne modules on most Kindling Warships.
A mere ten kilometers was nothing at all by the standards of space.
But Wang Dong knew very well that this shouldn't be why "Soul Descent" couldn't find a target.
The "Soul Home" generated by the Sky Peng Horizontal's hull trait, "Garden of Eden," was located inside the ship, so it should certainly have been within range.
His confusion was soon cleared up.
"Number of soul entities in Soul Home: 5.
Number of soul entities whose willpower meets the conditions for using 'Soul Descent': 0.
Number of soul entities in the surrounding space: 0.
Number of soul entities whose willpower meets the conditions for using 'Soul Descent': 0."
The information returned by the shipborne Kindling made Wang Dong understand.
"Soul Descent" also had a hidden condition: the target soul entity had to meet a certain threshold of "willpower"!
Thinking about it, this actually made quite a lot of sense.
For a soul entity to break through its inherent trait of being "untouchable" and descend into the material world was certainly no easy feat.
Even with "Soul Descent" as a catalyst, not every soul entity could endure the associated transformation. At the very least, those whose willpower fell short might suffer adverse consequences
