Background / History

Wang Dong grew up in an orphanage on a mining planet, unaware that he was the illegitimate son of Baron Wang Lei of Baron Black Stone Territory. His mother left Wang Lei to preserve the Baroness’s position, placed Wang Dong in an orphanage, and disappeared. When Wang Lei’s illness left the barony without a clear heir, most vassals favored recognizing Wang Dong as the Baron’s bloodline rather than adopting an heir from the Baroness’s maternal clan. 100 111

Before his rebirth, Wang Dong’s identity was exposed to the Jin Family and Earl Tianfang’s forces. Although Wang Lei brought him into the Baron’s mansion, provided education, cultivation resources, and protection, the small barony could not shield him indefinitely; Wang Dong was eventually forced to flee. 100 149

After rebirth, Wang Dong altered this outcome by avoiding the Jin Family’s attention and arranging for the Jin fleet to destroy Earl Tianfang’s Fourth Merchant Team and Wu Haoze. He regarded his return to the Baron’s household not as a family reunion, but as a mutually beneficial political transaction: the barony would provide status and resources, while he would secure its future. 51 100 120

His lineage was formally verified through a bloodline test. Ding Weichun and Chen Shayi found him unusually composed, informed, and politically perceptive for a miner, while his ambush against the Sky Tiger Caravan further established his qualifications as a potential heir. 115 119

Wang Dong secured the heirship of Baron Black Stone Territory on October 21, after building a direct armed force from virtually nothing in less than two months. 200 He later led Black Stone through successive advancement from barony to viscountcy and marquisate, ultimately becoming the Black Stone Kingdom. 616 1218

Personality

Wang Dong is cautious, calculating, and strongly oriented toward long-term development. His rebirth left him unwilling to repeat impulsive decisions; he habitually prepares several responses to threats and avoids unnecessary risks when a larger opportunity is approaching. 5 14

He combines strategic patience with decisive retaliation. He believes wrongdoing should be answered, but favors timing, controllability, and outcomes over emotional gratification. 120 In warfare and politics, he often uses restraint to force opponents into disadvantageous positions rather than pursuing indiscriminate destruction. 688 714

Despite his pragmatic outlook, Wang Dong values loyalty, family, and capable people. He treats former opponents magnanimously when doing so can secure talent and unity, as demonstrated by his appointments of Chen Zigong and Zuo Leng. 199 200 His upbringing without parental affection also contributes to the importance he places on bonds with his siblings. 152

His reputation understates his capabilities: longtime allies consider the public image of the “Tiger of Black Stone” only a fraction of his true strength. 1780

Abilities & Skills

Auxiliary System

Wang Dong possesses an auxiliary system whose functions are generally concealed from others as a powerful Special Ability.

  • Allows entry into otherworldly battlefields by consuming a Low-grade Energy Crystal; initially usable once per month. 157
  • Provides origin-point-assisted cultivation, allowing exceptional acceleration without compromising his foundation. 163 331
  • Unlocks functions as Wang Dong progresses, including Otherworldly Battlefield Coordinate Record. 332
  • Its effects lead trusted subordinates to speculate that his apparent Special Ability is gold or even red quality. 320 629

Body-Refining Technique

Wang Dong’s cultivation talent is enhanced by past-life knowledge, origin points, evolutionary resources, and exceptional willpower.

  • Achieved “complete workout” results from the beginning, progressing over ten times faster than ordinary practitioners. 163
  • Can actively control cosmic free energy after reaching the intermediate stage. 216
  • Advanced-stage combat performance allowed him to kill two advanced-stage opponents and severely injure another during the defense of the Goddess of Dawn. 427
  • Reached the super stage after using Level 10 Super Biological Essence Fluid. 831

Unidentified Special Ability

Wang Dong awakened a Special Ability upon entering the advanced stage, though he could not initially use it flexibly. 332

Close-Quarters Combat

Wang Dong developed close-combat proficiency during his previous life’s prolonged flight and life aboard warships. 134

  • Uses terrain and timing effectively rather than relying solely on physical superiority. 427
  • Employed the Saint’s Crown light shield and stamina potions to delay three advanced-stage opponents for over thirty minutes. 427
  • His limit in that engagement was breaking the coordinated defense of three peers; he could hold them but not defeat them by brute force. 427
