An Explanation

Module slots were divided into two types: standard modules and additional modules.

The number of standard module slots on each Kindling Warship was fixed.

A destroyer initially had only five types of standard module slots: main gun, armor, engine, radar, and energy shield.

There was one slot for each type of standard module, for a total of five.

The number of additional module slots, however, was not fixed. Depending on the quality and level of the hull structure, each Kindling Warship started with a different number of additional module slots.

Usually, there were between one and three.

Afterward, as the hull structure's reinforcement level increased, the number of additional module slots would increase as well.

Overall, the module slots on every Kindling Warship were always limited and scarce.

But there was no denying that any functional Shipborne Module could often grant a Kindling Warship a unique ability.

These abilities often defied common sense and were hard to predict.

Of course, that didn't mean you could take just any creation of civilization and plug it straight into a Kindling Warship. There were still certain special requirements.

Wang Dong didn't know what those requirements were, either. His brief life after reincarnation had been spent fleeing pursuers, and he had never received a formal education.

He only knew that they might involve certain rules of the Mysterious System.

That was only natural. The onboard Kindling itself, and even the existence of Kindling Warships, involved a great many rules of the Mysterious System. If everything could be explained, would it still be the Mysterious System?

But Yuan Shu was here now, and he seemed to be in a pretty good mood.

The Yuan family was part of the privileged class, and its ancestors had once been powerful, too. He had probably learned quite a few secrets.

Wang Dong's thoughts shifted, and he took the opportunity to ask what had been puzzling him.

"Mr. Yuan, what kinds of creations of civilization can serve as Shipborne Modules aboard a Kindling Warship? Surely not all of them can. That would be too absurd."

Yuan Shu was indeed in a good mood.

He didn't mind Wang Dong's interruption. Instead, he explained with interest, "There is indeed a threshold. Only creations acknowledged—or accepted—by the onboard Kindling can be installed in a Kindling Warship's module slots and used as Shipborne Modules.

"As for the specific conditions, there's currently no way to determine them precisely. There are dozens of research schools, large and small, in the Amethyst Kingdom alone.

"But there is one thing everyone agrees on.

"Creations imbued with a certain belief or spirit, or with the maker's painstaking effort, have a higher chance of being accepted by the onboard Kindling and used as Shipborne Modules."

Wang Dong committed Yuan Shu's words to memory.

This was another thing he had never learned about before his reincarnation.

Seeing that Wang Dong had no further questions, Yuan Shu continued his explanation.

"Because of the unique nature of the onboard Kindling, when a Kindling Warship detects a certain spatial signal, it can use the onboard Kindling to enter an Otherworldly Space different from our universe.

"Based on years of research, we can be fairly certain that this Otherworldly Space is another universe, different from the one our civilization inhabits.

"When Kindling Warships fight in the Otherworldly Space, destroying its creations of civilization or killing its living beings can yield a mysterious resource called [Source Point].

"By combining Source Points with minerals or other resources, you can reinforce and upgrade the Shipborne Modules installed on a Kindling Warship, increasing its combat strength.

"This growth is much faster than the increase in a warship's combat strength achieved by steadily advancing a civilization's technological level!

"Combining compatibility with growth, every Kindling Warship is like a divine weapon with limitless potential.

"As time passes, our human civilization acquires more and more divine weapons, which in turn promote development across all areas of our civilization. That is the root cause of our civilization's continued rise!

"Glory to the Kindling Warships! Glory to our human civilization!"

As he spoke, Yuan Shu grew emotional and gently patted the seat beneath him.

Wang Dong was moved as well.

As a transmigrator, he was still a member of humanity, and naturally felt proud to see his civilization flourishing.
