In fact,
Wang Jiayuan had already prepared to pay a heavy price.
Before he received the Xinzhu Group's notice to negotiate,
he had spent a fortune to make connections, doing everything he could to befriend a mid-level Xinzhu Group official. Given the time constraints, managing even that much was no small feat.
He had also sent a generous gift, asking the official to mediate on behalf of Fuhai Trading Market within the Xinzhu Group.
The official had readily agreed.
And so,
when the formal notice to negotiate from the Xinzhu Group arrived,
Wang Jiayuan had gone to the meeting with pleasure.
He had thought it would be a difficult negotiation, but one that would ultimately succeed.
He had never expected
the other side's negotiator to open by demanding seventy percent of Fuhai Trading Market!
Not merely seventy percent of the dividends,
but a full seventy percent of the shares!
Naturally, Wang Jiayuan couldn't simply agree.
That was right.
When you're under someone else's roof, you have to bow your head.
It wasn't that he absolutely refused to accept that percentage.
But he still had to argue his case and bargain a little.
Anyone who had negotiated before understood.
Backing down meekly, yielding from the very start, would only encourage the other side to push for more.
By contrast,
you could "put up a token resistance," then, under the other side's sharp arguments, "reluctantly" make a concession.
That would give them a sense of accomplishment,
while also helping you recoup at least some of your losses.
There was no denying it.
That old fox Wang Jiayuan knew his way around a negotiation.
Unfortunately,
the opponent he faced this time was entirely unreasonable—or rather, the Xinzhu Group's idea of reason was completely different from Wang Jiayuan's!
And then,
came the tragic ending.
