Ruins and the Supreme Saint
The aged voice, bearing the marks of time, swept through the Ruins, causing cracks to appear in the space surrounding Ruins.
The chains binding the Supreme Saint One began to tremble violently, and the gaps in the chains gradually widened.
But soon, a power erupted from the Ruins, and the gaps in the chains gradually closed under its influence.
The world returned to normal, peace returned to normal, and everything was as if nothing had happened.
"The cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death, the rise and fall of the world, is a normal cycle."
The Supreme Saint exists only in enormous eyes, with eyeballs tilted upwards, gazing at the sky above the Ruins.
That aged voice evoked an urge to kneel and worship in anyone who heard it.
This is the most supreme being in countless worlds, a being that has transcended Exiting Sainthood.
To reach the highest is to be supreme!
But when the voice came out, no one answered him; it was as if he was talking to himself, saying things that no one else could hear.
The Supreme Saint voice continued, "The world needs balance. If any balance is broken, not only will I die, but also the lives of countless beings in countless worlds. Only with balance, only through cycles and repetitions, can we maintain eternal life."
He kept talking, but no one paid any attention to him. He kept going, as if he knew that no one was responding to his words, but he didn't find it boring.
"Ruling the world, maintaining balance, for countless years, countless perspectives still exist, this is right, and you are all wrong."
As he uttered those last words, his aged voice changed; his tone was no longer calm but carried a hint of anger.
After this anger arose, the Ruins trembled once more, as if they were about to kneel at the feet of the Supreme Saint.
"Well..."
Just then, a sigh echoed in the void, and at the same time, a figure materialized from mid-air.
The figure had no human features, only the shape of a human.
His entire body was composed of a white, radiant light. When this figure appeared, the surrounding tremors disappeared completely, and everything returned to normal.
"You can't hold on any longer. Let me go, and I can let you live another life." The Supreme Saint One's enormous eyes radiated a chilling killing intent.
"Ruins, you are Ruins, you can live another life, why seek your own death?"
"I will grant you a second life, and even a third or fourth life, if you release the restrictions here."
In addition to the chilling killing intent, the Supreme Saint's words also carried a strange allure, as if trying to win over the person before him.
The humanoid figure, composed of white light and referred to as the Ruins, let out a laugh.
"Ha ha ha ha!"
"Proud as you are, it's unbelievable that you would make a deal with me. It seems you've been imprisoned for too long and have developed a fear."
"I am formed from the convergence of countless worlds, representing the will of those worlds you destroyed. Their will is singular!"
"I will destroy you!"
His words carried an air of leaving no room for negotiation.
The Supreme Saint fell silent, his terrifying pupils still devoid of any human emotion.
"I am the Supreme Saint, protecting the balance of countless worlds. If it weren't for me, this world would have been out of balance long ago!"
He seemed unwilling to discuss this topic and changed the subject instead.
Upon hearing this, the Ruins paused for a moment, then continued to laugh loudly, "Your death will bring about the greatest balance!"
"Countless worlds live and repeat themselves according to the rules you set, each time in the same way, and they will eventually be destroyed."
"You think this is your achievement? You're wrong. This is the chain you put on them."
"There are countless worlds, and each one should have lived its own life, each with its own unique brilliance, yet they are all the same. This is what you did."
"Living like this is like being in a dog cage!"
The Supreme Saint chuckled and said, "At least I've kept these countless worlds in balance. You know, once that balance is broken, everything becomes unpredictable, and nobody knows what might happen. Isn't that good?"
"Fine?" The Ruins scoffed. "Who said that breaking something necessarily leads to destruction? You're talking about variables, things that could possibly turn out for the better. But if you make a move, countless worlds will be destroyed. Do you think I don't know what you're thinking? Your thinking is selfish."
"Let countless worlds be destroyed, so that you can survive stably. You said before that you wanted balance, and your death would be the greatest balance. Would you die?"
At this point, the Ruins became increasingly hurried, and his tone grew increasingly angry.
If he could kill this guy in front of him, he would have already made his move.
Oh...
balance?
It's just an excuse.
He had long seen through the destruction of countless worlds; it was all for the sake of the Supreme Saint One's own survival.
The Supreme Saint sighed, then changed the subject. "So what? Who doesn't want to live?"
"You are not as strong as me, so you must be at my beck and call. This is the ultimate truth of the universe!"
The Ruins paused for two seconds, then, after realizing what was happening, said, "I can't argue with you anymore, so I'm not even pretending anymore."
The Supreme Saint's enormous eyeball gleamed with a chilling light. "I'm giving you a chance to live again, something you've always dreamed of, but you don't cherish it. I know you've done many things to deal with me, but can you really do it? Do you know what I just did?"
The Ruins asked with great interest, "What did you do?"
The Supreme Saint merely sneered, looking at the Ruins before him as if he were a fool.
What he did, and how could he possibly tell anyone?
Only a fool would do that.
The face on the Ruins had no features and showed no expression.
He stroked his chin, turned around, and prepared to leave.
The Supreme Saint did not stop him, letting him leave. After he disappeared, the Sage slowly closed his enormous eye.
Everything around fell silent again; the chains remained locked, and nothing changed.
After leaving the Ruins, it transformed into a beam of light and vanished into the world.
At the same time, a crack suddenly appeared where he had disappeared.
Within the crevice, there was a chill and despair.
Figures flashed through the crowd, their terrifying power emanating continuously.
"Sigh... I still can't break through."
"The method of temporarily leaving through the Ghost Market is simply not feasible. As long as you leave briefly, the Supreme Saint will escape from the cage."
"He's definitely plotting something, but how can I alert everyone..."
A long, drawn-out sigh echoed around.
"I can't hold on much longer; I'll soon disappear into the world. I have to think of a way..."
"What is the best way?"
"Got it! Hahaha! Got it!"
"I really can't go out, but I only need to send a message, I only need a medium!"
Strange things were happening within the Ruins, but Xu Bai was unaware of them at the time.
He was carrying the unconscious Yun Zihai, flying through the air.
As they drew closer to the Great Chu Kingdom's palace, Xu Bai's expression remained unchanged; on the contrary, it grew increasingly solemn.
He wasn't referring to Yun Zihai's matter. In fact, to resolve Yun Zihai's issue, they had to go to the Great Chu Kingdom's imperial palace.
He was thinking about the machine he had killed not long ago.
The machine was merely a tool, and one that had been deceived by the Supreme Saint. To this day, he still had no clue what it actually did.
But he knew very well that an old monster like the Supreme Saint, who had lived for an unknown amount of time, would never do anything without benefit, so his encounter with the machine must have a deeper meaning.
"What exactly does this mean? What is he trying to do?"
The more Xu Bai thought about it, the more frustrated he became.
He felt that although he was originally in this big net, he had always been walking on the edge, but now he had reached the center of the net.
Thinking about this for a while, he still had no clue what to do until he arrived at the palace of the Great Chu Kingdom.
Without the slightest hesitation, he headed straight for the location of Chief Mu.
It was already quite late, but Xu Bai's arrival did not make Chief Mu relax at all. He turned on the oil lamp in the room again.
After Xu Bai placed Yun Zihai on the ground and explained his purpose, Chief Mu frowned, first checking Yun Zihai's condition, and finally sighed.
"We are at a loss."
With a bitter smile, Chief Mu indicated that he was powerless to help.
"His body is now filled with countless consciousnesses. His own consciousness is like a small boat, struggling to survive. According to what you told me before, all the doors have probably been opened, but for some reason, they haven't come down."
Upon hearing this, Xu Bai tried to explore with his divine soul, but withdrew it after a moment.
As Chief Mu just said, that is indeed the situation inside.
There are so many souls inside that it's impossible to deal with them, because there are just too many, so many that Xu Bai feels his scalp tingling.
But for some reason, Yun Zihai persisted and was not devoured by these divine souls. Perhaps this is why those things could not descend.
Even Chief Mu couldn't solve it, or even find a clue. Xu Bai felt a headache coming on. If Yun Zihai couldn't hold on, these worlds might really descend, which would be a huge blow.
"Here's what we'll do: you stay in the Imperial Palace for now. I'll gather all the manpower and resources, and we'll work together to find a solution to this problem."
Chief Mu had a serious expression on his face.
Anyone with a normal mind knows that the current situation is extremely serious, and if we are not careful, something terrible could happen.
Xu Bai nodded. This was the only way to proceed at present.
There are many professions and many experts in this world. Perhaps by pooling everyone's strength, we can help Yun Zihai escape this crisis.
With that in mind, Chief Mu also prepared to arrange accommodation for Xu Bai.
Just then, footsteps sounded, the door was pushed open, and an old man walked in, his face full of anxiety.
"Dean," Xu Bai said after seeing the man's appearance, "I knew you would come."
Prime Minister Prime Minister Wen was also present, standing next to the dean.
Xu Bai's arrival was no secret; both of them were experts and could naturally sense it.
The dean stepped forward, said nothing, silently examined Yun Zihai's condition, then sighed, looking somewhat dejected.
"It's hopeless. This kid isn't following my advice. I told him not to enter the transcendent realm, but he just won't believe me."
"I thought I had saved him, but it was too late in the end."
Prime Minister Wen also came up, and after investigating Yun Zihai's problem, he said nothing and fell into deep thought.
Xu Bai looked at Prime Minister Wen and stroked his chin.
Prime Minister Wen, with the refined demeanor of a scholar, said calmly, "Although I don't like this old fellow, since it's fair competition, I won't resort to those disgusting tactics."
The meaning is already quite clear from the words.
He and the dean had been fighting for a long time, but since they were both scholars, neither would take the other's advantage. Now that the dean had an urgent matter and could not continue to make breakthroughs, Prime Minister Wen also temporarily stopped.
Even at this point, the dean didn't argue with Prime Minister Wen, but just looked at Yun Zihai.
"I have already discussed a solution with Xu Bai and we are preparing to concentrate our manpower and resources to resolve this matter," said Chief Mu. "Don't rush, there's always a solution. We haven't reached the final stage yet."
The dean nodded and struggled to his feet. "Try to find someone with expertise in the spiritual realm."
Everyone present was an expert, so they naturally knew where Yun Zihai's problem lay.
Xu Bai is also proficient in the divine soul, but he is even more proficient in attacking and controlling the divine soul. This situation is slightly complicated for him.
Prime Minister Wen pondered for a moment and said, "I do know someone who is very skilled in investigating the soul, but this person is not easy to invite."
After he finished speaking, everyone present except Xu Bai showed strange expressions.
Chief Mu said, "If we can invite this person, it is indeed possible to find out the cause and then try to solve it by following that cause."
The dean smiled bitterly, "But that's almost impossible. I reckon even if this person dies, he won't help us."
"After all, he had a grudge against King Xu, but he was also an extremely kind person, so His Majesty did not take action against him back then."
"Force cannot be used to threaten."
Xu Bai was quite curious and listened carefully from the side. After all, he was considered a master in the realm of divine souls, so he was also curious about his peers.
But before he could even finish listening to the conversation, he was suddenly told that he had a grudge against him, which confused him.
"Wait, let's sort this out first. You said that expert who is proficient in soul manipulation has a grudge against me? I don't remember him at all?"
"If I'm not mistaken, people who have a grudge against me are usually dead. I haven't left any survivors."
Xu Bai has taken quite a few lives; almost none of those who had a grudge against him survived.
The sudden appearance of an enemy, and a living, troublesome one at that, left Xu Bai completely bewildered.
"Why don't I remember?" Xu Bai stroked his chin, pondering, "That shouldn't be the case, they should all be dead."
Chief Mu said helplessly, "Your enemies are indeed all dead, but this enemy is different. It is related to your Upper Capital, especially when you fought a thousand men alone at the end."
