"Should we go capture them all?"
"Not for now!"
Red Boy waved his little hand, stopping his subordinates from making a move.
He planted one leg on a nearby stone brick and leaned forward slightly, staring ahead with an imposing air.
Unfortunately, Red Boy was even shorter than Nezha.
On him, a pose that should have been intimidating instead looked somewhat comical.
But even faced with the comical-looking Red Boy, not a single Mountain God or Earth God dared to laugh.
This young lord was ruthless when he got his hands on someone!
"Hey, Earth Gods and Mountain Gods, do you know what that place over there is?
If you can tell me, I'll waive ten years of his offerings!
If none of you know, hmph—you know what'll happen!"
Faced with Red Boy's threats and bribes, the Mountain Gods and Earth Gods exchanged bitter looks.
Seeing Red Boy's expression grow increasingly displeased, an Earth God who looked like a white-haired old man hurriedly spoke up.
"My lord, the east is vast beyond measure. We're here in the middle of the Western Ox Continent.
Everything east of us—from the Western Ox Continent all the way to the human kingdoms of the Southern Jambudvipa Continent, including the East Sea—is in the east. How could we know which place you're asking about?"
Red Boy was taken aback. He frowned and looked east.
Then he closed his eyes and sensed for a while.
At last, he frowned and turned around, speaking uncertainly.
"About three hundred thousand li away, I suppose!"
At Red Boy's words, the Mountain Gods and Earth Gods looked as though their faces had turned into bitter gourds.
Three hundred thousand li was simply too broad an area.
But faced with unreasonable Red Boy, none of them dared object.
They exchanged glances, and just as Red Boy was about to lose patience,
a Mountain God lowered his head slightly and spoke, steeling himself.
"My lord, the place you're talking about should be the territory of the human race's foremost dynasty, the Great Tang."
The Mountain God reasoned that any place unfamiliar to Red Boy must lie beyond the Western Ox Continent.
And once past the Western Ox Continent, Red Boy was naturally suited to fire, so he probably wouldn't like the East Sea.
That left only the Southern Jambudvipa Continent.
And right now, the Great Tang Dynasty controlled the largest territory in the Southern Jambudvipa Continent and was the most powerful.
Of course, most importantly, the Great Tang was the only country whose name he knew.
After all, most of the human race's finest lands lay in the Central Plains of the Southern Jambudvipa Continent.
Their home was simply too far from the Southern Jambudvipa Continent.
Most immortals and gods knew enough about the human race if they understood the foremost dynasty.
"The Great Tang Dynasty?"
Red Boy's eyes shifted. He waved his hand, ordering his subordinates to release the others.
"Boys, your king's heading out for a while. Keep an eye on the house!"
"Yes, my lord!"
A streak of red light flew out of the cave abode and sped east.
At the same time, a golden light rose near Hao Mountain.
A monk flew into the air and watched Red Boy depart, frowning.
"What's Red Boy going east for? Princess Iron Fan is in the west!"
The monk thought for a moment, then immediately moved and descended toward Hao Mountain.
With a casual wave, he sent down a golden talisman.
Before long, a Mountain God was summoned before him.
"Greetings, Master!"
"Do you know where Red Boy went?"
"This Minor God doesn't know. I only heard a fellow say just now that Red Boy was asking about the Great Tang in the east!"
"The Great Tang!"
A flicker of confusion passed through the monk's eyes. He waved the Mountain God away.
After thinking for a moment, he sent a streak of golden light toward Western Heaven.
Beside the blast furnace in Zhao Family Village, Chen Fan watched the black smoke billowing above the earthen kiln.
For some reason, Chen Fan had a feeling that something terrible would happen if he let the smoke keep drifting away.
So he said, "Nezha, add some fire to that black smoke. Make it hotter!"
Nezha nodded. With a wave of his little hand, a long, fiery-red spear landed in his grip.
Purple flames shot from the spearhead and instantly ignited the black smoke spewing from the earthen kiln.
"Right, just leave a cluster suspended above the kiln."
After Chen Fan finished speaking, golden light of merit descended from the sky.
Sixty percent of it swiftly sank into the Golden Wheel of Merit behind Chen Fan's head.
The third layer of the Golden Wheel of Merit was quickly filled.
But the once-radiant Golden Wheel of Merit was now surrounded on all sides by a thin haze of karmic debt.
The contract, the iron pot, the Qu Yuan Plow, and now an earthen kiln.
The merit-bearing sacred artifacts shone brilliantly within the Golden Wheel of Merit, firmly keeping the karmic debt at bay.
Of the remaining forty percent of the merit, ten percent fell on the earthen kiln, turning it into an object of merit.
Another ten percent sank into Nezha's body, and he stored it in the Cosmic Ring.
The final twenty percent was divided into hundreds of portions and sent to the people around them.
"Chen Fan, do you have a way to deal with that black smoke?"
Nezha's little face was full of worry. Although the merit was good, it had been tainted with karmic debt.
If he used it to refine a lotus incarnation,
then even his foundation would be tainted by karmic debt. The result might be worse than his situation now!
They couldn't exactly install a cluster of Serpent Fang Purple Flame above every earthen kiln, could they?
Even if Nezha worked himself to death, he couldn't keep up with the needs of an entire dynasty!
"Well, there is such a thing as a pollution-removal device."
Chen Fan rubbed his chin, then spread his hands helplessly.
"Unfortunately, I don't know how to make one!"
Chen Fan shrugged. An air-pollution treatment device?
Unless you were a professional, who the hell knew how to make one?
He'd never heard of any transmigrator building a small blast furnace and equipping it with pollution-control equipment.
Just then, the old blacksmith's voice rang out.
"My lord, the steel knife is sharpened!"
The Great Tang, Chang'an City.
A middle-aged man with fair skin, a long beard, and a mild expression arrived at a courtyard.
The man glanced around. Seeing no one nearby,
he quickly reached out, pushed open a small side gate, and slipped inside.
"My lord, please put on a mask and follow me!"
A servant who had been waiting behind the gate for quite some time bowed slightly and handed him a black mask.
