Background / History

Nezha merged with a lotus form, gaining a Golden Immortal body and Magic Power. The incarnation also became a limitation: his cultivation could no longer advance, and the Linglong Pagoda restricted his freedom. He seeks Merit to cleanse and reunite his primordial spirit and physical body, which could free him from these constraints. 34

At the Second Princess Zhang Tianyang’s request, Nezha transformed into her appearance while she remained in the Heavenly Court. Learning that the other princesses had gone to Zhao Family Village in search of a Merit Sacred Artifact, he used the task as an opportunity to pursue Merit and left for the mortal realm. 34

Bai Qianli intercepted Nezha before he reached Zhao Family Village. Nezha forcibly broke Bai Qianli’s temporary formation with the Universe Ring and Golden Brick, then infiltrated the village to investigate its secrets. 35 36

During Chen Fan and Zhang Tianshou’s wedding, Nezha initially assumed the Eldest Princess had been abducted by demons and prepared to attack. Bai Qianli restrained him long enough for him to see that Zhang Tianshou’s sisters were unrestrained and that the marriage was voluntary. Nezha immediately agreed to conceal the union from the Heavenly Court, provided the Seven Fairies returned to the Jade Pool before the Peach Banquet. 37

Nezha later warned Zhang Tianshou and Chen Fan that their celestial-mortal marriage could not be concealed permanently: married immortals retain their mortal spouse’s aura, which other immortals can readily detect. Chen Fan kept Nezha at Zhao Family Village, where Nezha assisted with its steelmaking efforts and received a share of the Merit created by the blast furnace. 38 39 41 42

His anger at her apparent abduction gave way to practical cooperation once he understood the truth, and he warned her of the Jade Emperor’s likely response rather than exposing her marriage. 37 38

He is also candid and blunt. Nezha dismisses Chen Fan’s proposed loopholes in the Heavenly Laws without hesitation, yet continues helping with the village’s projects and raises concerns when their Merit is contaminated by Karmic Debt. 39 42 43
