South border of the Land of Fire, Uchiha encampment.
Upon receiving the news, Uchiha Rei personally led his men to the entrance, ready to welcome the hero's return.
"He actually succeeded." The Legion Commander's heart surged with emotion, his palms trembling slightly with excitement.
He had fought the three clans for many years, yet had never been able to completely defeat them.
Now, with this intelligence, they would soon gain a decisive advantage.
Once the scattered strongholds were eliminated, the three clans would be cornered with no escape.
Their only options would be to fight to the death or flee to the Land of Lightning.
In any case, seeking refuge with the Senju was out of the question.
"Once this war is over, the southern border will completely belong to the Uchiha."
"Tajima, let's see how you plan to contend with me then."
Lost in thought, Uchiha Rei seemed to envision himself becoming the Clan Head.
"My lord, they're here."
His subordinate's voice pulled him back to reality from his daydream.
He glanced around; a large number of ninja had already gathered at the entrance, all waiting for Kyosuke's squad to return.
Soon, three figures appeared on the horizon.
The one in the lead was Uchiha Kyosuke, showing his true face.
Since his strength officially reached Jonin, he no longer needed to wear a mask.
In ninja dealings, strength was the sole standard by which everything was measured.
His young age only served to highlight his extraordinary talent.
As mentioned before, Chidori was the Ninjutsu most suited to the Uchiha. If he could teach it to his subordinates, he could pass it on to all clan members who met the requirements.
The prerequisite, however, was to become his subordinate.
Ninja moved with incredible speed. One moment they had appeared, and the next, the squad was before the Legion Commander.
Tossing the unconscious Yamanaka Rumiko onto the ground, Kyosuke calmly stated, "Mission accomplished. I've brought back the prisoner."
"Good, good, good," Uchiha Rei said three times, recognizing the prisoner's identity at a glance.
He ordered his men to take the captive away for strict guarding, then patted Kyosuke's shoulder, not leaving immediately.
A hero's return couldn't end so anticlimactically.
Let him first enjoy the cheers of his clansmen.
As a long-standing adversary, Yamanaka Rumiko's appearance was not particularly mysterious.
Soon, someone recognized her.
"Damn, it really is that slut Yamanaka Rumiko."
"With her, we can dismantle the enemy's nests one by one."
"You bastards, your end is near!"
"Hahaha, the war is finally coming to an end."
"Long live Lord Kyosuke!"
"Long live, long live!"
Facing the fervent faces surrounding him, Kyosuke did not shy away.
With a clank, he drew his short sword, held it upright in the air with one hand, and let out a roar of pure exhilaration.
The next moment, the cheers nearly shook the entire camp to its foundations.
Inside the commander's tent, Kyosuke and the Legion Commander sat facing each other.
Everywhere, there were all sorts of filth.
Yet, at times, the relationships between ninja could be remarkably pure.
The change in strength naturally brought about a change in status. This was, in essence, Kyosuke's first conversation as an equal with the Legion Commander.
"Next, we launch a full-scale assault on the enemy," Uchiha Rei said with a touch of emotion. "After all these years, I've dreamt of this day."
"With victory secured in the southern border, your prestige will rival that of Uchiha Tajima," Kyosuke said, making no effort to hide his dislike for the Clan Head.
Over the past year, Tajima's loyal subordinates had constantly tried to trip him up.
They couldn't cause any real damage, but they were certainly annoying.
However, Kyosuke continued to endure.
He didn't have the power to overturn the table yet, so he'd let them do as they pleased for now.
When the time was right in the future, he had already secretly reserved Tajima's head.
It could be said that their relationship was one thing, but Tajima's head was an entirely separate matter.
If this person doesn't die, he will never be able to seize power in the Uchiha.
"You've been promoted to Jonin now." Uchiha Rei knew the strength of his subordinates well, so he intended to entrust more important responsibilities to him. "Form the unit as soon as possible. Don't worry about personnel."
A Unit Captain is allowed to form a team of thirty members.
Considering the casualty rate of ninjas, the normal number of members is usually lower than this.
Previously, Kyosuke did not want to be held back by others, so he always fought in groups of three.
Now that he was about to enter the front lines, even if all three were Jonin, the effect they could produce would be very limited.
A single army-level Ninjutsu from the enemy could send them scattering in panic.
A bunch of trash Mist Ninjas could resist Edo Madara's Great Fire Annihilation when gathered together. Sometimes, numbers could indeed offset the gap in raw strength.
"Thank you, Lord." Kyosuke nodded, not refusing Uchiha Rei's kindness.
He indeed needed to start building his own influence now. With soldiers under his command, he would have enough say in the clan in the future.
By then, even if Uchiha Tajima wanted to deal with him, he would have to weigh his options carefully.
While the two were talking, the selection of team members had already begun outside.
Uchiha Izumi acted as the examiner, testing the applicants' strength, while Uchiha Maya used genjutsu to screen out potential problematic targets.
At first, everyone had some complaints. They wanted to join Kyosuke's command, so why should they accept your genjutsu interrogation?
Wasn't this looking down on them?
But when Uchiha Izumi personally demonstrated Chidori and announced that those who passed would receive the Lord's tutelage, the entire clan in the camp couldn't sit still.
They were all battle-hardened ninjas. Anyone who wasn't an idiot would understand what Chidori meant.
Many people had been wondering how the small team could possibly defeat a perfectly equipped Ino-Shika-Cho.
Now they understood. It turned out that Kyosuke had developed such a terrifying lightning Ninjutsu.
"Chidori, a very fitting name," someone couldn't help but sigh.
Due to the limited number of spots, only qualified talents were being recruited externally for now.
What were the requirements?
No explicit faction affiliation, not a subordinate of Uchiha Tajima, and proficient in the use of lightning Ninjutsu.
As soon as these three conditions were announced, the clan members wailed, while those who met the requirements were overjoyed, hoping they would be able to learn Chidori one day.
After a full day and night of assessment, the two finally selected thirty ninjas who met the requirements.
No Jonin came forward; all those who passed the requirements were Chunin from within the clan.
Jonin were strategic assets everywhere, and they had long since joined different factions.
It wasn't that they didn't want to come; it was that Kyosuke had rejected them from the start.
"Welcome." Activating his Three Tomoe Sharingan, Kyosuke said calmly amidst a chorus of gasps, "Follow me, and you must have the ambition and will to achieve merits."
"Remember, the enemy's core territory is our unit's forward outpost."
"With such resolve, become stronger by any means necessary."
