Team 9 Is Formed, Thoughts Differ

"Naruto! You bastard, I'm going to kill you!!" Sasuke shoved Naruto away forcefully, turning his head to the side and gagging, completely enraged.

Naruto also leaned to the other side, gagging and shouting, "Ughhhhhh!! My mouth is going to rot."

"Uh, it... it's my fault!" The boy in front saw the scene and became flustered.

However, soon, a group of girls who witnessed their prince's first kiss being stolen surrounded Naruto, radiating killing intent.

The following scene was too gruesome for Mo Chen to bear watching.

With a sense of reverence, Mo Chen found an empty seat far from the chaotic scene.

"Mo... Mo Chen-kun!" a soft, sweet voice sounded beside him.

Mo Chen turned his head and was slightly stunned.

He had been so focused on Naruto and Sasuke that he had accidentally sat next to Hinata.

Hinata was now blushing and very nervous, just like when she first saw Naruto in the original story, her small hands constantly fiddling with the hem of her clothes.

"Good morning, Hinata-chan!" Mo Chen smiled and nodded at her, quickly looking away to avoid putting too much pressure on her.

This heartwarming smile caused Hinata's vision to blur for a moment, and her nervousness subsided significantly.

"Let's... do our best together today!" Hinata said softly again.

Mo Chen continued to smile and nod, "You too, good luck!"

Hinata smiled, thinking to herself: Mo Chen-kun is so gentle, I never noticed it before.

Meanwhile, Naruto, who had publicly stolen Sasuke's first kiss, was beaten into a pulp by the girls in the class.

The gruesome sight actually lessened Sasuke's anger considerably.

"Hmph, super big idiot!" Sasuke pouted and turned his head towards the window.

Soon, their homeroom teacher, Iruka, arrived, gave some encouraging words, and then began forming teams.

"...Team 7, Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki."

"Awesome!" Naruto cheered with his hands raised, while Sakura beside him drooped her head dejectedly.

"...And, Sasuke Uchiha!"

"Fantastic!" Sakura cheered with her hands raised, while Naruto beside her drooped his head dejectedly.

"Team 8, Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame."

What a shame!

Hinata's gaze dimmed slightly. She looked at Naruto ahead, then subconsciously glanced at Mo Chen beside her.

"Team 9, Chie Mai, Mo Chen, Ryota."

Mo Chen scanned the classroom and quickly identified his two teammates.

Chie Mai was the only one in their squad with a surname, but she seemed like a commoner girl.

Her appearance wasn't as striking as Konoha's Four Flowers, only above average, somewhat similar to Gaara's disciple Matsuri.

However, her figure was outstanding; at such a young age, she was already curvaceous.

Ryota seemed like a timid guy, with an even lower presence in the class than Mo Chen.

Among the three, Chie Mai's theoretical knowledge was average, and her combat ability was below average. Mo Chen's overall level was average, and Ryota was only slightly better than the dead last.

So, as Iruka said, the team assignments were meant to balance the overall skill level of each squad, which was utter nonsense.

A square-faced man around thirty appeared at the classroom door. He looked like a typical minor character.

Chie Mai and Ryota, filled with infinite expectations for the future, excitedly followed him.

Mo Chen waved goodbye to Hinata and followed as well.

They, as supporting characters, were destined to be excluded from the main storyline.

Endo Hiroshi, the Jonin leader of Team 9, brought Mo Chen and the other two to a training ground.

"First, I need to tell you something!" Endo Hiroshi got straight to the point without any preamble, "Next, I will conduct a practical assessment for you. The difficulty will be very high for you!"

Seeing Endo Hiroshi's serious expression, Chie Mai and Ryota nervously swallowed.

Endo Hiroshi said indifferently, "Of your twenty-seven graduates, only nine will be recognized as Genin. The rest will be sent back to the academy for further training."

"In other words, this assessment is an elimination match with a 66.7% elimination rate. Prepare yourselves mentally."

"If you don't participate with the resolve to kill me, you won't stand a chance!"

"You have thirty minutes to rest and prepare. The assessment will begin immediately after, and it will be a battle between the three of you against me alone."

After speaking, Endo Hiroshi took out an alarm clock, set it, and placed it on a nearby rock.

He himself found a clean spot, sat down, and closed his eyes to rest.

Not to mention his own grades were at the bottom, Chie Mai and Mo Chen were ranked outside of the top ten.

How could they compete for the top nine if they couldn't even break into the top ten?

Chie Mai encouraged them, "If you give up, you're destined to be eliminated. Are you content with that? At least now it's three against one!"

"Since the assessment is unavoidable, why not give it our all? Maybe we'll pass with a bit of luck? What we need to consider now is how to maximize our combined strength!"

Mo Chen looked at Chie Mai with some surprise, then agreed.
