What Kind of Power Is This?

Mo Chen was currently in a state of losing control.

Just moments ago, an immense power had suddenly appeared from who knew where and spread throughout his body. In an instant, his strength had undergone a tremendous change.

But he still couldn't control this power freely, not in such a short time. As a result, the energy ran wild and burst out of his body.

Just as Endo Hiroshi had been powerless to stop his Chakra from being absorbed, Mo Chen couldn't stop his power from pouring out either.

"This is getting out of hand!" Mo Chen tried to stop the flow of Chakra.

But the power was too immense, and his control over Chakra was far too weak. He couldn't control it at all.

They'd both been reduced to skin and bones, and their lives were in danger.

Seeing this, the Anbu hurriedly assigned someone to take them to Konoha Hospital.

On the training ground, as the black matter was destroyed, less and less remained, and Mo Chen's burden eased accordingly.

When only about a fifth remained, its reach still spanning dozens of meters, Mo Chen finally managed to pull his power back.

Without Mo Chen's Chakra to sustain it, the remaining black matter withered and shriveled at a visible speed, losing its vitality.

With the crisis over, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief. They looked at Mo Chen with wary, uncertain expressions.

Ino arrived just then and was astonished by the scene.

Shikamaru, who'd arrived right behind her, was just as shocked by the scene. He also noticed Ino was acting a little strange.

"I don't know what happened either!" Mo Chen shook his head and struggled to stay on his feet.

That sudden outburst had left the power within him surging with incredible intensity.

"Why did you come here too?" Asuma signaled for Shikamaru to pull Ino away and keep her from approaching Mo Chen.

"The commotion was so loud that we were worried, so we came to see if we could help." Ino gave what she thought was a plausible excuse.

But she wasn't the sort of person who went out of her way to help others.

Shikamaru gave her a meaningful glance, then discreetly tugged at Ino and led her and Choji over to Asuma.

"What a pain," Shikamaru grumbled, helping Ino fill in the details. "We were in the village, after all. We didn't think we'd run into any danger."

"You're all newly graduated genin. You can't even be considered real ninja yet," Asuma said helplessly. "Danger or not, your first priority is to protect yourselves. As long as you don't get in anyone else's way, that's good enough."

"Teacher Asuma, you're underestimating us! We're not kids anymore!" Ino muttered.

Just then, an Anbu member walked over and spoke in a low voice. "We've found out what happened. According to Endo Hiroshi, he was holding a combat assessment here with the new Team 9."

"The other two members attacked Mo Chen and their teacher along with him to secure a win. Mo Chen may have gotten angry and suddenly awakened some kind of power, which led to this."

Asuma was so startled that the cigarette stub in his mouth fell to the ground. He stared in horror at the bewildered Mo Chen. "His power awakened and caused all this? I've never even heard of anything like it. What kind of power is this?"

When the Anbu shook his head, Asuma was about to ask Mo Chen directly.

But the Anbu member stopped him and said gravely, "The Third Lord must decide what happens next. Until then, I expect everyone here to keep this matter secret. Not a word can get out."

Asuma's expression instantly turned serious.

He realized that now that Mo Chen had awakened such terrifying power, news of it spreading would surely attract all sorts of people looking to investigate or take advantage of him. It would also cause panic among the villagers.

"Understood!" Asuma nodded. "We didn't see anything today!"

With that, he pushed Ino, who still wanted to stay, and hurried away with Shikamaru and Choji.

The Anbu member walked up to Mo Chen and spoke as gently as he could. "Mo Chen, we need to report this to the Third Hokage Lord. Come with us."

"Don't worry. You didn't cause this intentionally, and the damage wasn't great. The Third Hokage Lord won't blame you."

"Wait!" Endo Hiroshi struggled to his feet. "Take me with you. I'm his Jonin leader, so I share responsibility for this."

"But you..." One of the Anbu looked troubled.

But Endo Hiroshi was resolute. "I'm just a little exhausted. I'll be fine after some rest."

Seeing his determination, the Anbu didn't press the matter. They cleared the scene, erased the traces, and sealed the remaining black matter inside a scroll. Then they took Endo Hiroshi and Mo Chen to meet the Third Hokage.
