Yu spoke frankly.
"What do you need me to do?"
Uchiha Itachi answered just as readily. He felt no sense of loyalty to the Akatsuki Organization, so Yu's plan to deal with it didn't bother him at all.

"I need you to leave the Akatsuki Organization today. We're going to launch an attack on it, starting exactly two hours from now." Yu laid out the Ninja Alliance's plan, but he lied about the timing, pushing it back by half an hour.
Even with Uchiha Itachi, Yu had to be cautious. He wasn't alone; the Ninja Alliance was under his command, and he had to protect every member's life. He couldn't let a single mistake of his own cause the alliance to suffer losses.
"Fine!"
Uchiha Itachi agreed immediately, without a moment's hesitation.

Most importantly, that would also lower the projected death toll. Preventing casualties was what mattered most.
"Before I leave, I have one request: don't tell Sasuke about me." Uchiha Itachi made the request as he was leaving.
He didn't want Sasuke to learn the truth about him. If all the mysteries had to be revealed, he hoped it would happen after the day he had passed on everything he had to Sasuke.
