"Stop him!"
Officer Drey's furious roar had no effect—the portal had already opened!
Demons wreathed in green flames poured out from within, one after another.
Sun Busong was stunned. This was his first time seeing living soldiers of the Burning Legion.
These creatures, their bodies ablaze with green fire, stood only about fifty centimeters tall. They were completely naked, their magma-like skin riddled with cracks from which the green flames spewed. Their triangular heads bore two goat-like demon horns, and their eerie yellow eyes glowed with a green light.
They carried no weapons, but their sharp claws were deadly, dripping green liquid that corroded the ground on contact, sending up wisps of green smoke. A short tail trailed behind them, and a pair of fleshy wings sprouted from their backs.
These demons were clearly the lowest-ranking soldiers, only around level thirty.
"Imps! Kill them now!"
Sultan snapped back to reality.
"Move! These are all cannon fodder—don't let them leave the mine. If they get out and form a demonic field around it, stronger demons will pour through the portal!"
The Orc Elite Warrior's face had turned a sickly green. He knew full well the magnitude of his crime. His voice trembled as he shouted, "I'll kill you! You demon!"
The portal was already open, and the Necromancer had achieved his goal. He released his hold on the Orc warrior.
"Kill me? Hahaha! I am an immortal being! What's wrong, my Orc friend? Do you fancy this skeleton of mine? If you want it, just say the word. As a reward for helping me open the portal, I'll give it to you—go make some soup with it!"
With that, the Necromancer's body suddenly swelled, then exploded with a bang! A massive shockwave, mixed with bone fragments and rubble, blasted outward in all directions.
The explosion was devastating. The Orc warrior and the Archmage took the brunt of it. The Orc, being a high-health, high-defense professional, wasn't killed instantly, but the Archmage was reduced to ash.
Behind them, a swath of ordinary professionals lay dead or injured. The Alliance side, farther from the blast, only suffered a few light wounds.
The explosion sounded like a war horn, and chaos erupted once more. But this time, the enemy wasn't Horde versus Alliance—both sides united against the Burning Legion!
"Warriors, charge! Paladins, activate your auras! Hunters, set traps—don't let them break through!"
"Kill!"
"For the Horde!"
The Orc warrior was badly wounded, but this was no time for rest or healing.
"We can never atone for this sin today, even with ten thousand deaths. All we can do is use our last strength to die with them! Warriors, kill!"
His greatsword spun in his hands, cutting down every Imp in his path. The other Horde professionals charged in as well—those missing limbs, those lightly wounded—all seeking redemption through death.
"Send word outside! Tell them to inform the officers in Ironforge and Stormwind as fast as possible—we need reinforcements!"
"And! Have them guard the mine entrance. Not a single demon gets out. If we all die, blow the tunnel!"
Officer Drey was resolved to die if necessary. The demons must not escape the mine.
If they did, it would be a disaster for the entire continent. Sun Busong was panicking too.
Wave after wave of Imps surged from the portal. In no time, their numbers neared a thousand. With just over a hundred people here, holding them off was impossible.
"Damn it, my grand plan to dominate is over. Am I really going to die here?"
Then he remembered his Super Soul Stone.
"I probably won't die, but these teammates... they're done for."
He swung his blade, killing an Imp that lunged at him, and glanced at the portal. It was now completely shrouded in green light, with more and more Imps pouring out.
The moment he looked at the portal, a thought struck him: the soul stone could revive him, but it would bring him back right where he died. Reviving at the Burning Legion's portal? That joke wasn't funny at all.
The warriors mowed down one wave of Imps, only for more to emerge from the portal.
After cutting down several Imps, Sun Busong quickly moved to Sultan's side. The Third Prince was also fighting fiercely.
As a priest, Sultan had little advantage against other professionals—his skills dealt pitiful damage to most enemies—but against demons, his power was devastating.
"I have come to purify this land!"
"Begone, children of darkness!"
Sultan's staff gathered a mass of holy light, which he then directed at the black portal's entrance. The light covered all Imps within forty yards of the portal.
Dispel Magic!
Removes all magical effects within a certain range, deals 200 damage to summoned creatures, and doubles damage against demons!
The holy light fell upon every Imp near the portal. In an instant, it turned into a rain of arrows. The demons burst into flames—not green fire, but pure white holy fire.
Within five seconds, every Imp was reduced to ash.
"Nice work! Do it again!"
Officer Drey roared with excitement, cutting down a few Imps that tried to attack the rear-line Magic Professionals.
"Busong, take a dozen men and protect Sultan. We can hold the line here—don't let those disgusting things near our healers."
"Yes, sir!"
Sun Busong received the order and immediately gathered his squad, along with the captains of the Fifth and Seventh Squads, forming a protective circle around their healers and mages.
"How are you holding up, Captain?"
Seeing Sun Busong guarding him, Sultan let out a visible sigh of relief.
"I'm still okay. I've got plenty of Mana Potions in my bag—I can hold out."
After saying that, a hint of embarrassment crept onto his face as he added, "Hey, Busong, do you have any extra Mana Potions on you? If you do, don't hold back—hand them all out to the other priests. Once we get out of here alive, I'll pay you back double."
Sun Busong rummaged through his bag and found some potions inside, though they were all low-tier ones.
"I do! But I already gave you all the level 31 ones. I've still got some level 22 Mana Potions and a few level 14 Lesser Mana Potions here."
"You actually have them?!" Sultan was stunned. This kid was basically a mobile potion shop!
"Hurry up and hand them out to the others. Give some to the two Paladins too, and tell them to use Exorcism on the imps. Holy Magic deals massive damage to these demons."
"No problem!"
Sun Busong carved a bloody path through the enemies at lightning speed, then distributed the potions from his bag to the Magic Professionals. Those who received the potions were practically in tears as they thanked him for the support.
Once he'd handed out all the potions to the casters, Sun Busong returned to Sultan's side.
After casting another Dispel Magic, sweat was already beading heavily on Sultan's forehead.
"How's it going?" Sun Busong asked with some concern, guarding the perimeter.
"I'm still okay, but this isn't a long-term solution. We have to destroy that Portal, or none of us are making it out of here today!" Sultan panted heavily while firing Magic Missiles from his wand at the wounded imps.
"How do we destroy it? Tell me quick!"
"The Portal is immune to low-level magic. Only professionals above level 60 can damage it. Aside from that, the only way is to blow it up!"
"Blow it up how? With what?" Sun Busong asked urgently while fighting off enemies.
"With explosives! What else?"
"Explosives?"
Sun Busong's eyes darted around as he racked his brain for where he'd heard about explosives. The word rang a bell. Suddenly, his eyes flew wide open, and he smacked himself hard on the head, muttering, "What a brain I've got—I can make bombs myself!"
Sultan's Dispel Magic still needed a few minutes before he could cast it again, and he was burning with anxiety, wishing he could grow another pair of hands to cast spells.
Suddenly, someone tugged at his robe. He turned his head and saw Sun Busong.
"What's up?"
"Captain, do you have any Runecloth on you?"
"Runecloth? Isn't that the material tailors use to make gear? Oh, right, it can also make bandages. What's wrong? Do you need bandages?"
"Why so much chatter? I'm asking if you have it. If you do, give it to me. If not, I'll find someone else." Sun Busong was getting frantic too.
Earlier, while hiding among the casters, he'd checked his Engineering skill in his profession list, and sure enough, there was a bomb recipe in there.
He flipped straight to the explosive schematics and started searching. Soon, he found one.
Dense Explosive: Requires Engineering Use: Inflicts 340 to 460 Flame Damage to all targets within a 5-yard radius. (1-minute cooldown)
He wasn't sure if "all targets" included the Portal, but he had to try anyway.
The materials to make the explosive were simple: Dense Explosive Powder and Runecloth.
And the Dense Explosive Powder was even simpler—it was everywhere: Heavy Stone!
Sultan could tell Sun Busong wasn't joking. He quickly pulled a stack of Runecloth from his bag and said, "This is all I've got. Runecloth is rare—it's a high-tier material that only drops from humanoid mobs above level 50. How much do you need? I'll go look for more from the others."
Sun Busong held the cloth the Captain handed him, fuming inside. He had the cloth, but only five pieces—what the hell was he supposed to do with that?
"I need a lot! A lot, you get me? Go find more, now!" Sun Busong practically roared. This was the first time he'd lost his temper.
"Easy, easy! I'm on it!"
While Sultan scrambled to find more Runecloth, Sun Busong retreated to the back, grabbed a digging tool from the ground, and started frantically mining rocks. Luckily, plenty of them met the standard. By the time he saw Sultan again, he'd already crafted a pile of Dense Explosive Powder.
"What's this?" Sultan was stunned. He felt like his mental fortitude was too weak today—his body couldn't take much more.
"Explosive powder!"
Seeing Sultan back, Sun Busong didn't even look up as he kept crafting.
"How much Runecloth did you get?"
"102 pieces!" Sultan's voice trembled. How could it not?
Was this Leibraide Busong the bastard son of the Titan god? He could forge, cook, and now he knew Engineering and could make explosives!
"My life is saved!"
That was the one thing Sultan was sure of right now.
He laid out all the Runecloth beside Sun Busong and stood there watching him craft explosives. Who cared about healing teammates or casting spells to kill imps now? Watching him make bombs was way more satisfying!
Sun Busong's hands never stopped crafting, and Sultan was quick on the uptake—whenever Sun Busong needed something, he handed it over in no time.
Officer Drey's side was a bloody mess, and he had no time to check what Sun Busong and Sultan were up to.
The Horde Side had already been wiped out fighting the Demon Imps, since they were the closest to the Portal.
The Seventh Squad Captain noticed Sun Busong and Sultan acting strangely. After beating back a few waves of monsters, he sidled over to see what they were doing.
When he peeked in, what he saw made him jump.
Explosives! A pile of explosives as tall as a small hill!
"My god! Did you haul the entire Ironforge arsenal over here?!"
His shout immediately caught the attention of a few nearby.
"What's that?"
"Holy crap, explosives!"
"Hahaha! We're saved!"
Sun Busong had no time to listen to their chatter. He focused entirely on crafting explosives, not stopping until his materials ran out. Even then, he wasn't done—he kept making explosive powder, figuring the more the better.
Someone rushed to Officer Drey's side and reported what was happening. Drey was tied up with the main fighting force and couldn't break away, but he still sent back his message.
"Hahahaha, kid Busong, I'm loving you more and more! Once we blow these bastards to hell, I'm heading to Ironforge to get you a commendation!"
Lieutenant Knight Drey's voice boomed through the entire mine tunnel!
Sun Busong couldn't hold out any longer. Making all that stuff drained both his stamina and his mind. After finishing the last batch of explosive powder, he collapsed, passing out on the spot.
When he woke up, it was already the afternoon of the third day.
"Busong, you're awake! Finally! You've been asleep for two whole days and nights."
Opening his eyes, he saw his old man, Uncle Hanyi. The old geezer, spotting him awake, jumped around in excitement, tears streaming down his face.
"Old Man, why are you here? Did we win?"
Sun Busong's first concern after waking was the Portal.
"Hahaha, we won! All thanks to you, son—you're a Hero of Ironforge now." Uncle Hanyi spoke with animated glee.
"Good to hear we won." Sun Busong let out a long sigh of relief.
"Is everyone okay? What about the Captain and the others?"
"You'll have to ask Sultan about that. I've already sent someone to fetch him—should be here soon."
Before the old man finished, the room door burst open. First in was Officer Drey, followed by the Captain, the leaders of the Fifth and Seventh Squads, and Sun Busong's other five teammates.
"Kid, you're awake! Hahaha, fantastic!"
Officer Drey's usual loud voice rang through the entire medical station.
Should be around fifty thousand words by now! Can an editor take a look? I'm begging here, prostrating myself in every way possible!
