Marching on the Elves

Uther's end was a memorable one. He showed Arthas that even the Undead could wield the Holy Light. When Uther, in his Undead form, unleashed a dazzling burst of Holy Light, every Undead around him was cleansed—except Arthas. But Uther cleansed far fewer Undead than Arthas had raised anew. Among those Arthas transformed was Kurdath, who had fought alongside Uther to the very end.

The brave Dwarven Paladin's blue-and-white Battle Robe had faded away. In its place, he wore black armor and a green cloak, and the warhammer in his hand had become a skull-shaped hammer, a symbol of death. The Paladin Kurdath was no more. From then on, Kurdath would return before the world as a Death Knight.

After learning from Uther where Terenas's body lay, Arthas immediately marched on Andorhal. It proved that even wounded, Arthas could not be stopped from sweeping into the town.

The Scourge stormed into Andorhal without resistance. Even though Maiev fought to the death, the outcome had been decided long ago. When a childhood friend became an enemy, and Arthas plunged Frostmourne into Maiev, the battle-hardened warrior—wounded all over but never once afraid—shed tears. He grieved that he had failed to turn his friend back and failed to protect the town his friend had personally saved.

After retrieving Terenas's body, Arthas ordered his men to throw it into the blazing fire without hesitation. He then gathered Terenas's ashes. Using his senses, Arthas also unearthed Kel'Thuzad's remains. Then the Scourge turned its course and headed for the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas.

Lordaeron had now fallen in its entirety. Only Lordaeron's marshal, Turalyon, continued to resist the Scourge in Tirisfal Glades, leading the kingdom's scattered remnants.
