The might of a single arrow was terrifying, but there was only one Sylvanas at Windrunner Outpost, while the pale skeletons and disgusting Ghouls stretched across the hills as far as the eye could see, endless and inexhaustible.
There was a limit to what people could do. The Rangers were all incredibly powerful individually; taking out three or four enemies with one arrow was considered a poor showing, while normally they shattered five or six skeleton soldiers with a single shot. But the Elves were flesh and blood, and they grew tired. The Scourge, on the other hand, were simply too numerous. As far as the eye could see, there was still an endless sea of white, as though everything the Rangers had done had been for nothing.
When Arthas, commanding from the center of the army, saw the arrows flying from Windrunner Outpost grow fewer and fewer, he issued another order. The Abominations, as large as hills, struggled forward on their massive legs, lumbering toward the outpost. The ground seemed to tremble with every step. They swept aside anything that blocked their path, even their own skeletons and Ghouls.
Their hulking bodies put immense pressure on the Elves in Windrunner Outpost. Their hands, already trembling from overusing their abilities, now shook even more violently.
"Sylvanas, we're out of bolts."
At some point, Sophia had come up behind Sylvanas. Even the usually aloof Sylvanas looked a little disheveled. The repeated use of powerful Precision Shots had taken its toll on the formidable Ranger-General. A lock of hair hung over her forehead, and beads of sweat ran from her temples down her smooth cheeks to her chin, then dripped onto the ground.
But even weary and disheveled, Sylvanas was still Sylvanas. She turned to look at Sophia, her expression unchanged, her
