Reclaiming the Eastern Kingdoms

As far as Garithos was concerned, Varimathras and the Forsaken under his command who had betrayed Sylvanas were all heretics who deserved to die. But because of a letter, Garithos reluctantly suppressed his resentment.

The letter was from Taelan. It explained how Taelan had persuaded Varimathras to switch sides, and that the purpose was to have Varimathras and his followers attack Sylvanas, who had been driven into a corner. This would eliminate the great threat posed by the Forsaken while also reducing human casualties—a win-win. At the end of the letter was another plan: after Varimathras wiped out Sylvanas, the Scarlet Crusade and Garithos would attack Varimathras at the same time, then share the spoils.

Garithos was filled with admiration for Taelan after reading the letter. After all, it had been Taelan who had told him to lead his troops in an attack on Undercity. In Garithos's eyes, Taelan had surpassed Turalyon and become the new God of War.

Garithos crumpled the letter in his hand and tossed it into the brazier before giving the order to his adjutant.
