This meeting could be called the highest-level gathering the Alliance had held to date. Representatives of every faction were present. Varian sat on the throne, looking at the familiar and unfamiliar faces on either side of him, his heart filled with emotion. Some of these people had once been heroes of his father's and uncle's generation, and now they had all gathered under his banner. This meeting alone had already earned Varian honors surpassing his father's and rivaling his uncle's. But Varian knew that much of what he had now was thanks to the Scourge. If the Scourge hadn't swept through the six kingdoms in the north of the Eastern Kingdoms Continent, its iron hooves unstoppable, these heroes wouldn't have pledged themselves to the Kingdom of Stormwind.
After quickly composing himself, Varian turned his gaze to the young man in the center of the hall. Perhaps he and the young man were the same age, but Varian, having endured so many hardships, seemed far more mature.
The anxious young man, his forehead beaded with sweat, was none other than Prince Pearce Proudmoore of Kul Tiras, and quite possibly its future king.
His father had suddenly been captured by the Horde, sending Pearce plummeting from the joy he had felt before. When he heard that Varian was convening an important meeting to discuss his father's situation, the young prince brought only a few attendants and rushed to Stormwind City aboard a swift ship.
"King Varian, on behalf of my father and all the people of Kul Tiras, I offer you my heartfelt thanks. I'm grateful that you've convened this meeting for my father's sake. I'm equally grateful to all the lords gathered here. Thank you for coming together on my father's behalf!"
