Judgment

The day of Daelin's trial arrived soon enough. The Horde had long since built a raised platform in Theramore's square, with members of the Horde and Alliance seated on either side. Leiluo and Varian were both present.

When Daelin was brought up, chains bound his hands and feet, but otherwise he didn't look like a prisoner at all. His face was ruddy, and he strode onto the platform with his head held high, as if this weren't a trial but a ceremony honoring him.

Daelin's appearance was a relief to Jaina, who had been restless and distracted with worry. At least the Horde hadn't mistreated him.

The one who brought Daelin onto the platform was none other than Gul'dan, son of Durotan. He was also the judge presiding over the trial.

At the center of the platform stood a chair. Once Daelin had taken his seat, the trial officially began. Gul'dan first saluted the Horde, then gave a slight bow to the Alliance as a gesture of courtesy. When he was done, he raised both hands and pressed them down, calling out loudly:

"Everyone, please be quiet!"

His booming voice silenced the noisy crowd at once. Then Gul'dan walked over to Daelin and spoke calmly.

"Everyone present! I, Gul'dan of the Horde, represent the Horde in judging the criminal who instigated the war between the Horde and the Alliance: the King of Kul Tiras and the Alliance's admiral, Daelin Proudmoore!"

As soon as Gul'dan finished speaking, Varian's expression on the Alliance side darkened. The Horde had indeed named Daelin a war criminal, but bringing up Kul Tiras and the Alliance was surely deliberate. Varian held back his anger and looked toward the Horde. Sure enough, Leiluo was watching him with an amused smile.
