Faced with Aegwynn, already corrupted by Fel Energy, Medivh no longer hesitated. He raised the Oak Staff in his hand and pointed it at his mother. For a moment, he felt as though time had turned back decades, to when he was still a boy and his mother would always make him take up his staff and point it at her. What followed had been the darkest time of Medivh's life, a helplessness so deep that no matter how loudly he cried out, no one answered. Like a shadow, it had shrouded his entire youth. But today, in that same scene, Medivh's state of mind was entirely different.
"Feather Fall—Flame Strike—"
Medivh silently recited the names of the spells, then sent himself soaring into the sky once more. From above, he launched an attack at the ritual focus behind Aegwynn.
With Aegwynn, the ritual's focus, away from the formation, the focus was left vacant. At that point, the Fel Energy-gathering formation's focus only needed to come into contact with another kind of energy to immediately clash with the entire formation. Such intricate formations could be disrupted from the outside and still repaired, but if something went wrong inside, the formation would be ruined for good. Medivh's plan was a good one, but Aegwynn wasn't a fool. She did nothing more than give a glance to the demon Antonidas had become, and Antonidas charged at Medivh.
Medivh's Arcane Missiles struck Antonidas, but he swept them aside with a flap of his wings. Medivh followed up with Flame Strike and Frost Nova, but neither had any effect. Just as Antonidas was about to reach him, a flash of light flickered before the demon's eyes. Medivh had Blinked behind him. Then he dispelled Feather Fall and plummeted toward Aegwynn.
